The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position SummaryReporting to the Associate Director, the Communications Manager will be responsible for creating internal and external communications strategies. The Manager will plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials.The Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies (IIJS) is Columbia University's center for the academic study and discussion of Jewish life, history, and culture, and it has long been a national and international leader in the field. The IIJS is committed to blending rigorous scholarship with cutting-edge teaching and intellectual opportunities,ResponsibilitiesContent Development and Curation PortfolioOversees the creation, editing, and production of all IIJS publications, including website pages, print materials, newsletters, social media content, and yearly magazines.Ensures brand consistency across all IIJS materials and communications.Develops content for newsletters, yearly magazines, and any other distribution channels.Liaises and collaborates with stakeholders to develop effective content and marketing materials.Plans and manages the design, content, and production of all marketing collateral.Oversees all internal and external communications and ensures that the information is accurate.Plans, creates and oversees the production of the IIJS monthly newsletter, as well as the yearly magazine, and ensures prompt distribution.Reviews, edits, and updates students' correspondence, such as admissions letters, fellowship announcements, and ad-hoc communications.

Web/Social Media PortfolioOversees website management and content development.Ensures that the website is well-designed, functional, and up-to-date.Manages digital and social media platforms.Plans, organizes and promotes a wide range of events and makes sure the information is added to the website.Analyzes digital and social media accounts and ensures they comply with posting policies.Curates and manages the website and develops strategies to maximize our impact in the community and attract new stakeholders.

Event Planning PortfolioAssists with the coordination of ZOOM events and ensures proper calendar management.Monitors W&A at different events, compiles notes, and ensures that Q&As are updated.Submits new Jewish Studies courses for university approval and lists courses each semester.Assists with planning, promoting, and interviewing students for various IIJS fellowships.Organizes and serves as secretary for faculty committees on programming selection and fellowship review.Manages donor information and fundraising statistics and contributes to development initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years of related experience.

Other RequirementsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to maintain high confidentiality and professionalism with a client focus.Strong multi-tasking, prioritization, and organization skills.Attention to detail, research, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.Self-starter, a fast learner who can work independently under limited supervision.Work well in an interactive team environment.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, ZOOM, and Social-Media Platforms.Experience planning, writing, editing, and producing newsletters, reports, briefing memos, marketing collateral, and other communications materials.
