Position Summary

The Department of Art & Design seeks graphic design and interactive media faculty to teach courses ranging from foundation to advance design (e.g., typography, publication design, 3D Modeling, UI/UX) for fall 2024 in our international program in southwestern China. The instructor is hired to teach one or two courses for which he/she/they are qualified to teach. The instructor will provide quality instruction for the assigned courses and work with full-time faculty and translators in assessing students and following all course guidelines. The instructor reports to the Program Director. The courses are in-person in China and online from the US as part of our international program. The position is subject to all terms and provisions of the University of St. Francis adjunct faculty contract. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeach classes in the appropriate instructional areas.Participate in annual student and chair/coordinator evaluations.Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments, and other established processes.Attend classes regularly; return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner; effectively communicate with appropriate staff.Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations.Commit to furthering the mission, goals, and core values of the university always.Meet all contractual obligations as spelled out in the University of St. Francis adjunct faculty contract.Perform any additional related duties as assigned by the Art & Design Department Chair.Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university.Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Art, Graphic Design, Interactive Design Media, and/or a combination of education, training, and tested experience.Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction including the latest version of Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, Adobe XD, Premier, After Effects, Maya, Blender, AI Generators, and UI/UX applications.Teaching experience at the collegiate level.Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.Demonstrated commitment to the university's core Franciscan values.Part-timePreferred Requirements

Master's Degree in Art, Art History, or Master of Fine Arts (MFA).Experience using course management programs (e.g., Canvas).Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Hours/Shift/Work Schedule

Adjunct faculty is willing to teach in-person at the Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE) in China and/or online from the US.

Physical Requirements of Position

Work is performed in classroom settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.
