The Job

Children's Network

is recruiting for

Media Specialist I

to develop, implement and advise management regarding public relations and marketing programs designed to educate and inform on issues of public significance. Media Specialists write and distribute informational and educational materials; promote, organize, and conduct events and activities of public and social importance. Media Specialists develop and maintain social media content. They also research and analyze information to develop written documentation, reports, graphs and press releases and prepare marketing analysis and business marketing plans and coordinate all media purchasing including commercial television, air time and printed ad space.

The resulting eligible list will only be used to fill a vacancy in the Children's Network Department.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Background Investigation : Applicants must pass a background investigation, which may include fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam prior to appointment.

Travel:

Travel throughout the County is required to perform duties in the community. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation and may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available). At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.

Shifts:

Some positions may require incumbents to work some evenings, weekends, and on-call.

Sponsorship:

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

Two (2) years of full-time work experience writing and editing educational/informational brochures, news releases and/or promotional materials for internal or external publications including organizing, coordinating and overseeing outreach programs to promote organization events and activities.

NOTE:

Internships and student experience is not considered qualifying.

-AND-

Education

:

Sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units of completed college coursework,

half of which must be upper division , in English, journalism, business/public administration, public policy, public relations, mass communications, or liberal arts.

NOTE:

A list of completed college coursework or legible transcripts (unofficial are acceptable)

must

be submitted with the application if the candidate does not possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the qualifying fields listed above.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and oral communications skills and have demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and experience with social media content in a social services environment. Experience in childhood development is highly desirable.
