Basic Function

The Climate Communications Manager will lead the development and implementation of a climate communications and engagement strategy, together with the sustainability, net zero transition and government relations teams to help position LYB as a leader in taking climate action. They will lead in plan, coordinate and implement the communications strategy successfully across the department, and will serve as the subject matter expert for climate communications within the Center of Excellence by demonstrating that sustainability can drive value.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a global climate communications strategy and plans which aligns with the global sustainability communications strategy, and our circularity and low carbon solutions ambitions, employing audience-appropriate channel mixesSubject matter expert for climate communications within the Center of ExcellenceKey client manager for Net Zero Transition, Climate, Product Sustainability, Circular and Low Carbon Solutions teamsMust quickly develop a deep understanding of the sustainability approach, goals and transition road map in regards to taking climate action and how this can drive value for LYBDevelop and execute an associated climate engagement strategy as part of the non-market strategy work to establish LYB as a leader, working with the Net Zero Transition Leadership, Product Sustainability, Government Relations and Climate teams.Drive strategic communications counsel for relevant spokespeople in the sustainability and advocacy domain related to climate. Analyze trends and counsel sustainability and business leaders on best practices, channel selection, and other strategic insightsMaintain a strong focus on external engagement across various channels, including media, social, paid, digital, and traditional avenues.Develop, manage and deliver engaging content for target audiences, covering message development, writing and storytelling, including working with our inhouse creative services teamOwn communications outcomes measurement, reporting findings, insights, and recommendations back to the communications team and key stakeholders in alignment with the Center of Excellence and business objectivesCommunicate and collaborate regularly with local and global teams to ensure alignment with communications priorities, gather stories/proof points and to leverage and share communications materials and best practicesCollaborate regularly with business and commercial leaders and communicators to ensure alignment with cross-functional prioritiesDevelop an appropriate level of internal communications to ensure awareness of business strategy and progress in regards to our climate action and product sustainabilityLeads the approval and project management of key projects and organizes updates and production/delivery of projects to Senior Leadership, including the Chief Sustainability Officer, ESG team, and EVP for Sustainability & Corporate AffairsMin. Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required in journalism, communications or public relations or related field, along with demonstrated experience in communicating about climate from a corporate perspective. A Master's degree would be an added plus.The ideal candidate will have at least 10+ years of demonstrable experience in a sustainability and/or climate communications-related field, a benefit if in a corporate communications role or with a corporate communications agency.Effective and demonstrable communication skills across multiple formats and platforms (e.g., written, verbal/presentation, digital-ready content & internal/external/executive comms).Demonstrated experience in communicating around climate from a corporate perspective, a natural storyteller with excellent writing skills.Experience in change management and the ability to practice a growth mindsetAble to think strategically, work independently and entrepreneurially and see projects through end to end, effectively managing and prioritizing deadlinesMust be able to demonstrate the ability to be detail-oriented, set priorities and work through approval processes to meet deadlineAble to influence and direct colleagues, and manage the needs of different stakeholders (including relevant senior leaders) as the Center of Excellence starts upAble to distill complex ideas around sustainability into compelling narratives and relatable content across different formatsAble to collaborate well in teams, and receive and provide feedbackExhibits key competencies in attitude and work (e.g., build partnerships, deliver results, drive innovation, grow capabilities, promote inclusion)Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and project management (Monday.com, Co-Schedule) video editing software experience is a plusProficiency and fluency in verbal and written English is required; additional languages are a plus
