Digital Communicator

Position Summary

Plays a key role in developing digital and traditional content marketing strategies for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), with a focus on CANR social media and events at the Pavilion. Works in collaboration with internal clients and external stakeholders to create and distribute high-quality content across all appropriate channels. Maintains best practices for Pavilion marketing practices by working closely with Pavilion staff, external partners and clients.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Journalism, Telecommunications, Public Relations, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production, news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Four-year college degree program in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in communications; and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services.

Exceptional communication skills to provide high-quality, responsive customer service to clients/partners.Deep knowledge of the current social media environment.Detail-oriented approach to brand standards and contractual compliance.Knowledge of basic office practices, procedures and equipment.Comfortable in iMovie and the Adobe Creative Suite.Creative thinker with an eye for engaging content.Ability to work well with diverse groups and team members.

This position is based in East Lansing and includes job flexibility, including the option to work a hybrid schedule with weekly onsite office hours (generally two to three days per week), in addition to evening or weekend events as needed.
