The Discovery Tech team helps customers discover and engage with new, popular and relevant products across Amazon worldwide. We do this by combining technology, science, innovation and creativity to build new customer-facing features and experiences alongside cutting edge tools for marketers.

You will be responsible for conceiving and building critical services that automatically optimize Amazon’s cross-category marketing and merchandising. Through the enablement of intelligent marketing campaigns that leverage machine-learning models, you will help deliver the best possible shopping experience for Amazon’s customers all over the globe. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager Tech to join our team focusing on developing a strategy for critical services that deliver value to Amazon’s customers, Amazon partner brands and vendors, and will help grow our business through content automation and personalization. You will work backwards from the customers to lead, design, architect, and implement large, critical technical solutions to make a profound impact for our customers. You will play a key role in driving the strategy, vision, roadmap and opportunities to scale, working closely with software engineers, applied scientists, business stakeholders and partner teams such as retail Category teams, the Personalization team and Amazon Advertising. You will have a high degree of ownership over critical features and the customer experience, leading projects involving distributed systems, web development, front-end/back-end design, and more.

A successful candidate will have a strong sense of ownership, great judgement, be highly analytical, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. The ideal candidate for this role will be customer-obsessed with the capability to dive in and learn new technologies fast and who is comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; will be a creative and an analytical problem solver. Experience with e-Commerce, branded marketing and/or advertising products will be applicable and helpful.

Key job responsibilities

The duties will include working on the initial definition of an aspirational customer experience to achieve business objectives, define the product vision, get buy-in from partner teams, and translate the vision into actionable and measurable roadmap items. You will develop and drive requirements back to engineering and applied science teams and partner with them to deliver exceptional products. Expect to be in charge of new projects and initiatives, developing new products, managing business and technical requirements, driving performance, and help building plans for the future. We need someone who is eager to grow with us and is passionate about driving clarity in highly ambiguous product and technical environments, and has a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

About the team

We believe in regular feature develop and frequent experimentation, allowing us to continuously improve the customer experience. As a new team, we carry little tech debt. We prioritize writing high quality and maintainable code, and build systems that leverage existing tools to provide extensive test coverage across our services. The team provides a great opportunity to make an outsized impact in a burgeoning space and on fresh or even yet to be built services. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Experience in technical product management, program management or engineering

Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Experience as a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross-functional teams

Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

Experience with end to end product delivery

Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
