Position Summary

The Director of Education & Research Industry Marketing plays a critical role in Huron’s success by influencing our go-to-market and product strategies, crafting a unique value proposition for expertise, creating demand through integrated marketing campaigns, and enabling the customer lifecycle. The focus of this role is to support the market positioning and growth of the education and research industry. Specific responsibilities span market research and segmentation, persona development and customer journey mapping, marketing strategy, messaging development, bringing established and new solutions, services, and/or products to market, integrated campaign planning, and using data and analytics to drive growth for Huron and the education industry. The Marketing Director has a thorough understanding of both Huron’s enterprise business strategy as well as specific business priorities and supports the execution of business strategy through the development and execution of an industry-specific marketing strategy and plan. This is a highly visible position that has a tremendous influence on Huron’s business results and future growth. Responsibilities include:

Market Research – Source primary and secondary market intelligence. Design approach, and structure methodology for the collection and interpretation of market knowledge. Quantify the market size, share, solution/service/product requirements, and market-based competitive analysis. Segment and prioritize markets to actively pursue. Analyze and interpret research results including opportunities and threats. Identify attractive markets to provide a basis for investment, acquisition, and functional objectives.

Strategic Planning – Create marketing planning framework and process. Perform analysis of market data, summarize findings, and apply findings for the input to our enterprise planning and growth strategy for the education industry. Support the development of the education industry and strategic initiatives. Perform scenario planning and present relevant insights of company advancement opportunities to education industry leadership. Ensure successful implementation, monitoring, and measurement of results.

Industry/Solution/Service/Product Marketing – Collaborate with education business leadership, translating enterprise and business unit (practice) goals, objectives, and market opportunities into a formal, cohesive annual marketing plan for the education’s collective portfolio of solutions, services, and products. Develops marketing strategies and ensures alignment of services and solutions to market segments driving clarity and efficiency in go-to-market execution. Build SWOT analysis, develops buyer’s personas, and creates positioning and messaging for the industry, solutions, services, and products Performs internal and external interviews with customers for voice of the customer data to discover and quantify market problems and opportunities for improvement. Supports the enterprise alliance partner strategy and collaborates with digital and field alliances team on education industry-specific programming and outreach. Analyze voice of customer data to inform Huron’s unique ability to address market problems and deliver value to the focus markets.

Leadership and thought partner - Drive sales and marketing alignment, collaborating with education industry leadership, enterprise marketing and communications, growth enablement, and digital and field alliance teams, Cultivate and sustain working relationships with industry key opinion leaders who can play a role in supporting Huron's business objectives. Manage and optimize education industry marketing budget.

Job requirements:

BA or BS degree in business field required; MBA preferred.

Market strategy, planning experience. Previous product marketing, portfolio marketing or vertical/industry marketing experience strongly preferred.

Education industry expertise a plus.

A minimum of 15 years of work experience.

Proven leadership and management skills.

The estimated base salary range for this job is $150,000-$215,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $195,000-$260,000. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
