Site Review Process (40%):
Manage and conduct both pre-production and ongoing website reviews with assistance of team lead and other UX team members.
Partner with customers for continuous improvement in these metrics:
Search Engine Optimization
Broken Links
Content Quality
ADA Accessibility
Web Policy Compliance
Review available website data and analytics to inform review process.
Front-End Development & Coding (20%):
Translate design concepts into functional web interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Implement responsive designs for various devices and screen sizes.
Optimize performance and load times for seamless user interactions.
Work with CMS platforms (e.g. Drupal, etc.) to create and manage web content.
Customize templates and modules to align with user experience goals.
User-Centered Design & Research (10%):
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user requirements, conduct user research, and create wireframes and prototypes.
Design intuitive and visually appealing interfaces that enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and usability guidelines.
Assist customers with improving Information Architecture & User Experience on their websites / applications.
Usability Testing and Iteration (10%):
Conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
Iterate on designs based on user feedback and data-driven insights.
Collaborate with developers and content creators to refine user experiences.
Collaboration and Communication (10%):
Engage with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and content creators.
Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in project meetings and provide updates on progress.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development (5%):
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance skills. This includes mandatory and optional training available from KU resources.

A combination of education and experience:
High School Diploma/GED and five years of relevant professional experience or
Associate degree and three years of relevant professional experience or
Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant professional experience.
Two years' experience in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Two years' experience with responsive design principles.
Two years’ experience with accessibility standards (WCAG) and user-centered design principles.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as evidenced by application materials.

Understanding of SEO best practices.
Experience working with a diverse customer base.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience with website auditing tools (such as DubBot, SiteImprove, SiteBulb, etc.)
Portfolio showcasing relevant projects and design work.
Knowledge of Google Analytics including:

Position Overview:
The User Experience (UX) Programmer collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience across the university's digital platforms. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing user-friendly interfaces, ensuring accessibility, and optimizing usability. The User Experience Programmer contributes to creating intuitive web applications and interfaces that align with best practices and user needs.
Under minimal supervision, works within a standards-based collaborative team environment to contribute code and provide technical support and development expertise to various development projects and computer applications / operating systems.
