Description

Amazon Photos helps consumers preserve, organize, share, and relive their memories. The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, and Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show.

We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of the service around the world and delight our customers with a great product. To help us do this, Amazon Photos is looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused Lead Senior UX Designer to drive engaging user experiences and push the limits of what customers expect from a modern photos service.

Who you are:

You are a senior designer with 6+ years of experience working on real products that people use every day. You love the creative process, are photos-obsessed and systems-thinking. You are an organized self-starter that can deal with ambiguity and are always on the look out for ways to improve the customer experience. You are an excellent collaborator and have no problem presenting - and defending - your ideas to other designers, product managers, engineers, and company leaders. You’re hungry to apply your superior user experience and information architecture skills, visual design flair, problem-solving abilities, and soft skill expertise. You understand the value of user testing and prototyping, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Above all, you are passionate about solving real problems for real people through research, design, and iteration.

What you will do:

You will work with other members of the design and product teams to create interfaces that are beautiful, useful, and usable. You will use competitive analysis, customer feedback, app metrics, and usability findings to tailor your designs to the customer in order to best solve their problems. You will be responsible for developing your ideas from concept to completion, presenting them to stakeholders and leaders, and working directly with engineering leads to bring them to life.

Key job responsibilities

Use business requirements, usability findings and market research to develop scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements

Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings

Design conceptual wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, information architecture diagrams, interaction specifications, and functional prototypes

Develop and nurture relationships across teams and disciplines to promote collaboration and efficiency on Amazon projects

Know your customer and delight them with your inventions

Partner with your teammates in Product and Engineering, and collaborate on your ideas

Use your unique maker abilities to express a vision for the best customer experience, one which builds on the strengths of your team mates' contributions

Communicate your design decisions to your peers in Design, Product, and Engineering, as well as to the leadership team

Work closely with your Product and Engineering partners to ensure that the design vision is being honored as the timeline progresses and context evolves (new customer insights, tech limits, priority changes) until it launches

Follow up on your live designs with testing and iteration

Have fun! Design is a dream job and you should be doing your very best, most rewarding work

A day in the life

Ideally, you will be engaged in designing for the customer whenever possible.

If you are in meetings, they should be with people who can help you make decisions about your design. Otherwise, you are encouraged to decline.

Day-to-day, you will likely have ongoing in-person and virtual conversations happening with a group of designers, product managers, and engineers who might need your opinion or ideas, and vice versa.

About the team

We are all grown-ups, respected equally. We build our relationships with each other on thoughtful, honest feedback. If someone is struggling, help them by providing respectful, timely feedback.

Nobody will have the same depth of knowledge, experience and domain expertise you have for your current work. As the owner of the experience, you will have a leader who clears a path for you, and a team of peers to rely on for dialog and support.

The Design team meets weekly to share our work with one another, share good news, and laugh a little. Sometimes a lot.
