A division of Ciena, Blue Planet is the trusted OSS partner to many of the world's leading CSPs.Head of Blue Planet Marketing RoleThe Head of Blue Planet Marketing, reporting to Ciena's CMO and a member of both the Corporate Marketing and Blue Planet Division leadership teams, is responsible for setting the marketing vision and strategy for Blue Planet. This leader must ensure the execution of all aspects of the Blue Planet marketing plan, as well as sales and partner enablement. The Head of Blue Planet Marketing also serves as a trusted advisor to the Blue Planet leadership team in various aspects of go to market strategy. The successful candidate is a B2B marketing visionary proficient in multiple disciplines including brand and campaign strategy, product marketing, and account-based marketing.This leader will have an abundance of positive energy and an appetite for developing innovative marketing strategies. Guiding the Blue Planet Marketing team in creating differentiated value propositions, forward looking thought leadership, and compelling content based on a deep understanding of customers' needs, competitor positioning, and market trends. This person is not a "hype generator," nor one who simply parrots the latest buzzwords. Rather, this leader must be capable of understanding the Blue Planer portfolio capabilities and market needs to translate complex ideas into memorable messages and high impact marketing programs.This leader must effectively interact with a broad set of stakeholders and can develop mutual respect and rapport with direct employees, Blue Planet Leadership Team, Corporate Marketing Leadership Team, Product Line Management, Sales, Corporate Marketing functions, customers, partners, industry analysts, and media. This is a remote role and we are open to candidates based in North America.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesSet a clear marketing vision and strategy that aligns to the business goals of the Blue Planet Division.Through influence, rally the Blue Planet organization and other internal stakeholders around your marketing vision and strategy.Lead a global team of marketers with various skill sets and experience levels, fostering a transparent and collaborative work environment within the team and across key stakeholders. Ability to coach and nurture key talent.Responsible for working with Corporate Brand and Creative teams to evolve and maintain the Blue Planet brand and identity.Oversee the creation and execution of a range of marketing programs and campaigns from global awareness, to targeted marketing, and one-to-one account-based marketing- with the end goals of breaking through the market noise, increasing Blue Planet brand awareness, and driving greater customer engagement.Guide the Blue Planet marketing team in creating high impact marketing messages and content to support the different stages of the buyer journey. This includes portfolio collateral, blogs, whitepapers, webinars, case studies, etc. This will require developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of Blue Planet's portfolio our customers' needs, and the OSS market.Deliver sales and partner enablement content helping them to develop an intimate knowledge of Blue Planet's strengths and weaknesses so they can effectively position Blue Planet vs the competition.Work with the Corporate Marketing Digital Engagement team to develop SEO, personalization, social media, and website optimization strategies aligned to Blue Planet's marketing objectives.Collaborate with the Global Events team to develop and implement effective strategies for industry trade shows, webinars, and hosted customer events.Act as a public spokesperson and evangelist for Blue Planet at company events, industry events, andclient/partner/analyst/press/investormeetings, positioning Blue Planet as a "first choice" provider in the industry.Experienced and confident in engaging with all levels of internal management and stakeholders, including C-suite executives.Qualifications and Essential SkillsProven track record as a professional B2B marketer excelling at creating marketing vision and strategy, and seeing that through to successful executionBA/BS required; MBA is a plusAt least 10 years of B2B Marketing experienceKnowledge and experience intelecom/ OSS software/ cloud-native technologiesCustomer-first mentalityAbility to easily distill highly technical concepts into simple business value messaging,Demonstrated ability to drive customer engagement through highly effective marketing programs and eventsExceptional leadership skills and proven ability to attract, develop and coach superior talentExcellent oral and written communication skills (internal and external) with strong public speaking skills.Good listener capable of drawing on best ideas from a diverse group.Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships in a hybrid work environment across multiple functions and geographiesPersonal AttributesHigh emotional intelligence with the ability to align and motivate individuals with differing points of view/ approachesResilient mindset - ability to accept setbacks, quickly learn from failures, pivot and improve moving forwardStrategic and tactical, creative and disciplined, ability to roll up sleeves when needed, and strong ability to sift through details to arrive at important insights or points.Strong leadership skills with a highly collaborative and decisive approach. The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $163, 500 - $261, 300 CAD.The annual pay range for this position in the US is $189, 200 - $302, 200 USD.The annual pay range for this position in California is $217, 600 - $347, 600 USD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
