Job Summary

The Marketing Manager carries out marketing, outreach, and networking for the Fashion Innovation Center (FIC), including helping to develop and promote New York State’s sustainable fashion industry. The Marketing Manager works with RPI faculty and staff, FIC Consortium members, and partner organizations to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and outreach program.

The Marketing Manager promotes—to audiences such as brands, retailers, designers, consumers, manufacturers, and nonprofits—the FIC, its mission and vision, and NYS products and activities in fashion supply chain segments such as fiber-related agriculture, bio materials, fiber processing, finishing, design, and production. The Marketing Manager works with the FIC’s applied research, laboratories, education, training, and company award support, and with NYS enterprises.

The Marketing Manager develops messaging and marketing collateral; seeks opportunities to expand funded FIC research, meetings, laboratories and facilities, library, and participant memberships and benefits; and supports the FIC’s innovation and entrepreneurship program. The Marketing Manager may help identify and develop collaborative projects that respond to industry needs. These activities are in collaboration with FIC Consortium members including the Hudson Valley Textile Project’s Farm to Market Business Development Director.

Development and promotion activities by the Marketing Manager might include for example: prepare informational materials, prototypes, and samples to present to brands and others; develop FIC website content such as directory content and online displays that showcase materials and makers; catalog and propose foundation and grant participation and proposal opportunities for which the Center may be able to help, help write proposals, and meet with representatives of foundations and granting agencies as needed; participate in selected trade shows, industry events, and conferences, including development of exhibits as needed; create a fashion show, pop-ups in marketplaces, or product showcases in atelier settings; coordinate celebrity/influencer placements of NYS products to increase visibility for designers; coordinate New York Capsule Collections for apparel fashion and one for home goods.
