Role Overview: Leads a large team of experienced Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Project Engineers and first-level design managers with an emphasis on design excellence, schedule and budget execution, team-building, communication and personnel development. Oversees the creation of world-class commercial aircraft suites and seating. Maintains and improves processes in support of safety, quality, and design standards. Primary Responsibilities: • Oversees commercial aircraft suite and seating design team in support of one or multiple seating programs including resource planning, scheduling, issue resolution, personnel management, and development.

• Leads design engineering team in creation and maintenance of integrated design execution planning; considering inputs and outputs of other engineering and down-stream teams.

• Provides input for quoting of new business and change requests, including budget and execution planning.

• Establishes key elements of plans for the design, layout, development, testing, and evaluation of mechanical systems and sub-systems.

• Responsible for a team of experienced engineers and ensuring appropriate allocation of resourcing to meet project deliverables, specifications, and requirements.

• Responsible for key design metrics to ensure products meet customer, business, and market expectations. These include, but are not limited to, NRE costs, recurring costs, weight, and schedule commitments.

• Manages product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, weight estimates, and implementation of standard and non-standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements. • Manages test and qualification for systems, sub-systems, and components. Directs analysis of test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives. Responsible for modifications or adjustments to meet specifications. • Communicate and cooperate with quality clinic and related departments to ensure product quality and safety and support the test and verification of field issues. • Responsible for implementing commonality and optimization of product & components and improvements in design quality through the reduction in errors and escapes. • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, and possible new applications. • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems

• Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical systems.

• May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency. • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions. Basic Qualifications:

This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
