The FPDS team is seeking a customer-obsessed Principal UX Designer to join and lead our UX design team. This role will be responsible for defining and championing the vision for how our customers onboard, discover, share and consume the freshest employee data that powers thousands of services across Amazon. You lead with clarity and empathy, inspire others, and have a passion for solving problems at scale. You excel through innovation, creativity, and attention to detail. You are a proven strategic thinker and collaborator who flourishes working across product and engineering. You believe that design is more than aesthetics and enjoy design debates, thriving on iterating based on customer feedback.

Key job responsibilitiesLead high priority design projects that are often ambiguous and complex with multiple persona scenariosAs a hands-on design leader, you define frameworks and methodologies to scale design; you drive adoption across teamsStrategically balance trade-offs between competing priorities. Apply flexibility in creating solutions which meet the needs of the team, stakeholders, and customersFoster a customer-obsessed design culture by sharing best practices, evangelizing design principles and influencing product strategyDefine, develop and socialize a clear vision for design innovation and big thinking while not sacrificing speed of deliveryProvide leadership and design direction, influencing across teams and giving thoughtful, detailed and actionable design feedbackPromote collaboration and facilitate communication with stakeholders at all levels and across diverse disciplines and geographiesWork cross-functionally to drive intuitive design solutions from early concept through final implementation and iterationUse data and customer insights to share design solutions confidently with senior leaders

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS10+ years of design experienceHave an available online portfolioExperience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction DesignExperience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on dataExperience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Axure, Keynote, and InVision
