on our Attorney Talent team!This role can be based in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Austin, Boston, New York or Washington, D.C.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Learning Design Manager (“Manager”) performs a critical role in the attorney talent lifecycle and supports attorneys, practice groups, and departments throughout attorneys’ careers at the Firm.With a focus on continuous improvement and evolving lawyering needs, works closely with the Director of Attorney Professional Development, Department Chairs, and practice groups to conduct appropriate needs assessments and define and implement the Practice Skills and Practice Knowledge aspects of the L&D curriculum.Collaborates with L&D Liaisons to ensure that identified training needs meet adult learning theory best practices, including by drafting learning objectives, identifying appropriate training modalities, mapping courses to MyMoFo competencies and practice-specific benchmarks, and defining appropriate course attendees, pre-requisites, and co-requisites.Assesses feedback from partners and associates about learning gaps and identifies and executes appropriate interventions (coaching or large-scale training, appropriate cohorts, etc.)Develops and executes various forms of learner assessment, including immediate post-training and at appropriate future intervals. Reviews feedback and provides guidance on ways to improve learning offerings, as applicable.Recruits faculty for internal trainings, provides instructional design resources. Provides feedback from learners on strengths and weaknesses of trainings and resources to improve trainings.Supports the Director of Attorney Professional Development in executing the firm strategy on professional skills development on topics such as goal setting, time management, executive presence, and the partnership path and process.ABOUT YOUJD with minimum four years of practice experience at a major law firm.Strong background in Learning and Development in a professional services environment preferred, including experience in talent management and instructional design.Certification preferred in instructional design, learning theory, or similar (e.g., ATD, SHRM, SPHR, CIPD).Ability to apply effective independent judgment and decision making.Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.Ability to design and implement effective training curricula.Understanding of the business of law firms and how best to create strategic learning opportunities to further business goals.High level of emotional intelligence – ability to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.Advanced communication skills, with the ability to interact substantively with all individuals in the firm.Ability to take an assignment from inception to completion with minimal supervision or by following broad guidelines.Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive, detailed data.Excellent writing skills and the ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly.ABOUT MOFOAt MoFo, we collaborate as one firm, across borders, practice areas, and business functions and value fresh ideas and innovation over conformity and competition.ABOUT OUR BENEFITSMoFo offers a comprehensive benefits package starting on your first day.A variety of options for medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage to meet the needs of you and your family.Industry-leading parental leave and family benefits including adoption and fertility treatment options and backup child and elder care.Global wellness program, including free access to Talkspace and Calm apps.Annual community service day to make an impact on your community and a birthday holiday just for fun.Education reimbursement annually.Dedicated Talent Development team.Competitive annual profit-sharing contribution.Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $170k to $208kLos Angeles, San Diego salary range: $160k to $196kDenver salary range: $150k to $183k
