About this Opportunity:As a Mechanical Designer, your responsibilities will include conceptualizing, designing, and detailing various mechanical systems, devices, and equipment. You will work as part of a team that designs and engineers' automation solutions to fulfill the requests of our company's clients. This team will collaborate with our Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Production departments. We are seeking a passionate, creative, and technically proficient individual with excellent communication skills who enjoys problem-solving and working collaboratively. To achieve this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each primary duty satisfactorily.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Understand customer requirements and work with the engineering team to develop innovative designs using standard practicesUse technical knowledge to create concepts, designs, bills of material, and layouts for equipment, machines, and systemsPerform complex design assignments, make engineering calculations, and create 3D and 2D models and drawingsVerify design integrity by performing engineering calculations and evaluating functional feasibility and specification complianceSelect parts and design components with overall system cost and quality in mindReview, check, and assemble complete drawing packagesEnforce the use of engineering criteria and drawing standards and maintain design filesAssist with field work, provide design and technical assistance, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers, suppliers, and team membersAttend meetings, provide technical support, and participate in continuous improvement initiativesFoster a positive team environmentPerform other duties as assignedRequirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.

EDUCATION:Associates degree in Drafting and Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experienceCertification training from a vocational training school or college with courses relevant to drafting and/or engineering principlesElectrical, mechanical technical, or vocational training a plus

EXPERIENCE:4-7 years minimum mechanical design, detail, checking and engineering experience with automatic machines and toolsAt least 20 machines and/or tools designedStrong background in mechatronics and motion controlsKinematic simulation and finite element analysis experience a plus

SKILLS & ABILITIES:Explain complex ideas in simple termsDesign machines and systems using Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault PDM 2023 to create 3D and 2D models, drawings, and layouts that meet job standards and specificationsInterpret technical diagrams, schematics, and specificationsManage multiple projects simultaneouslyDemonstrate mechanical and electrical aptitude, leadership, organization, planning, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skillsWork well in a team and possess excellent interpersonal communication skillsUtilize GD&T, Microsoft OfficePossess strong project, time management, and organizational skillsUnderstand commercially available components, fabrication, machining, assembly, and manufacturing industry standards and practicesHave a working knowledge of motion control technologies.Self-motivatedExcellent customer serviceExcellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
