Position Description:
Partners with the department manager to oversee the floral design program, providing design expertise and product knowledge. Creates arrangements based on customer preferences. Ensures the department provides an exceptional customer shopping experience, with the highest level of service and product knowledge.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesGeneralContributes to a positive and supportive work environment.Demonstrates ability to multi-task and manage own time. Adjusts priorities, productivity, efficiency and speed based on needs and conditions of department.Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as cooperatively within a team.Gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner. Responds to feedback in order to improve performance.Understands and follows through on verbal and written directions.Speaks up. Shares ideas and feedback that contributes to success of store and company.Conserves company resources. Works in a manner consistent with company Vision, Mission and Values and sustainability program.Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information and assists in locating product throughout the store. Seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.Adapts service based on customer needs, handles difficult customer situations and seeks solutions to delight the customer.Observes all company rules and policies.Balances administrative tasks with presence on floor.Position Specific Functions
Oversees department operations in the absence of the department manager.Seeks opportunities to train department staff and others working in the department. Demonstrates ability to adapt approach to different learning styles among staff.Supports management in running of floral design program, providing the highest level of customer service and design expertise.Utilizes design knowledge and creativity to make custom arrangements and assist customers in product selection. Confers with customers regarding specifications and preferences.Responsible for all special and custom orders. Works with manager to grow business and establish department as a destination for special events.Builds displays and arranges department products to make attractive presentations, highlighting featured/unique/seasonal items.Demonstrates excellent knowledge of floral products and plants, with demonstrated awareness of trends in the industry. Educates customers on care and handling of floral and plant products.Collaborates with manager to plan for current ads, promotions, holidays and events. Ensures product selection and mix meet customer needs and merchandising standards.Collaborates with manager to ensure orders meet needs of the department and writes orders as needed.Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count and condition. Communicates any issues to management and / or merchandising team.Maintains professional vendor relationships.Processes, waters, cuts, conditions and cleans flowers and foliage for display and storage.Identifies, removes and logs products that do not meet quality standards according to company policy.Maintains cleanliness, organization and rotation of all areas, products and supplies.Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.May participate in inventories.Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.Facilities, Sanitation, Work Safety and Food Safety
Adheres to work and food safety policies set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.Performs janitorial tasks in compliance with sanitation standards established by store policy and state and local health departments. Contributes to store cleanliness.Maintains equipment, informs store/department management of any problems.Reports all safety concerns and work related injuries to management.Frequent handwashing is required.Tools and Equipment UsedThis position may be required to use the following tools and equipment: floral chopper, shears, knives, strippers, office equipment, cart, hand truck, baler, computer, pallet jack

Qualifications and Experience
2 years of floral design experience with demonstrated knowledge of flowers and plants required.Friendly and customer service oriented with prior retail / customer service experience required.Previous supervisory experience highly preferred.Prior ordering and inventory management experience required.Exceptional creativity, with a strong eye for design.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, with skills to learn new computer programs and systems.Self-motivated, with high attention to detail, quality and presentation.Skills to collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally in a team environment and one on one with coworkers, supervisors and customers.Physical Requirements
Medium work levelContinuously required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise level, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures.There may be exposure to dust, mold, gluten, fragrances and other fumes and airborne particles, fresh fruits, vegetables, house plants, and flowers.Work requires use of and working in proximity to common commercial cleaning agents.This position works on or around moving machinery or moving parts
