The Senior Designer will support engineers with drawing layouts by utilizing computer-aided drafting software. This role will also be responsible for creating new and modified components and Bill of Materials (BOM) in accordance to the Oshkosh standards.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

Perform high quality design work through CAD systems to create 3D and 2D layouts of parts, large assemblies and sub-weldments. Work cross functionally and with suppliers to obtain technical data; negotiate vehicle space allocation with interdepartmental design teams.

Proficiently create prints following CAD standards and industry best practices. Update current drawings from engineering and markup drawings for lower level designers. Properly use and understand GD&T practices with minimal guidance from engineers.

Create conceptual layouts of new designs for specific assemblies of new or current products. Select parts and/or design component for compliant and cost/quality conscious design. Support calculations (weight, tolerancing) in support of the overall vehicle design.

Prepare and create high complexity Change Notice (CN) documents based on BOM and design layouts for appropriate data entry. Assist peers with CNs.

Utilize ERP systems to create part numbers following the proper naming process and data entry requirements.

Create and revise high complexity BOM following department procedures.

Provide technical assistance for build issues, prototype, pilot, and production support to engineering teams. Collect, document, and organize build issues for assigned areas of design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent* with four (4) years of experience in design.

Internal placement only, requires a panel review and approval by the manager, local Vice President of Engineering, and the Chief Technology Officer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent* with eight (8) years of experience in design.

Experience and/or training in GD&T.

Ability to work independently.

Experience developing design concepts.

Detail oriented.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to adapt to a fast pace environment.

Demonstrated ability to mentor an individual design team member.
