Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited four year college/university.Willingness to complete training in accordance with F.S.10026.29(6) and F.S.1006.28Valid Florida teacher certification in Educational Media Specialist or equivalent.Out-of-Field designations are not permittedPreferred Qualifications:

Master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association, or from a program in library and information studiesCompletion of a teacher preparation program

*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:Creates an inviting, safe, and flexible environment conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices, and collaboration with teaching staff.Adheres to the rules and regulations as prescribed by the State Board of Education Florida Statutes, the school board, and administrative procedures.Prepares, maintains, and submits accurate and complete inventories, records, and reports as required by the State Board of Education Florida Statutes, school Board, and administrative procedures.Shares with the learning community collaboratively developed up-to-date procedures concerning such issues as material selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable use of resources.Encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning and provides 24/7 access to digital information resources for the learning community.Collects and analyze data to improve media services and to demonstrate correlations between the school library program and student achievement.Participates in school improvement and accreditation activities.Participates in the implementation of collaboratively planned learning experiences by providing group and individual instruction, assessing student progress, and evaluating activities.Collaborates with stakeholders to develop curricula that incorporate the full range of literacy skills.Prepares and administers the school library program budget to support specific program goals.Implements local processes and procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation, resource sharing, networking with other libraries and agencies, etc. that ensures appropriate resources are available when needed consistant with the District Instructional and Media Materials Plan.Develops and maintains a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school community, in accordance with district policy and rules and regulationsregarding copyright infringement, ferry use, and licensing of intellectual property.Evaluates promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning, supplement school the resource is, connect the school with the global learning, and communicate with students and teachers, and other stakeholders.Provides learning opportunities for students and staff related to new technologies, use in producing a variety of media, and applicable laws and polices regarding information.Trains utilizes, and overseas media aids, volunteers, and student assistants in the media center.Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned.
