THE ROLE

If you are an innovative creative leader with a social-first and culturally tuned-in mindset, looking to elevate social-first creativity to unprecedented heights, this job might be right for you. The ECD will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of our social-first, culture-first agency, leading, guiding and inspiring our creative team of 20+ writers, art directors, content creators, designers, motion artists and more. You’ll lead in setting the vision for how the brands we work with show up across every touchpoint (social, digital, experiential, OOH and more). You will work in partnership with account and strategy leaders to not only grow accounts, but also innovate and develop award-winning work that keeps clients coming back for more.

As ECD, you are the optimistic and tireless creative force leading the team to create culturally-tuned-in work that wows clients and impresses the industry. You are a client whisperer, a trend-miner, a fierce collaborator and an inspiring mentor. You foster an environment of innovation and mind-blowing creativity, inspiring your teams to do the best work of their careers. You have a keen eye for social-first storytelling, and a penchant for work that lives at the cross-section of entertainment and advertising, ranging from viral social content to headline-grabbing campaigns and years-long campaign platforms.

This role will report directly to CCO and Co-Founder Geoffrey Goldberg. Fun Fact: Geoffrey spent a former career as a Broadway performer and is now recognized as an industry thought-leader, as a Creative 100 and Creative 40 under 40. He brings a unique perspective on the convergence of Advertising, Entertainment and Creator Culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Culture Development:

Empower and lead a creative culture that fosters innovative thinking, supports professional growth, and develops the next generation of creative leaders through mentorship and hands-on leadership.

Strategic Vision and Execution:

Support the team in planning and executing visionary creative strategies that align with long-term goals, translating brand visions into high-impact campaigns that drive cultural relevance and community engagement.

Collaboration and Integration:

Foster collaboration across departments to deliver cohesive and innovative solutions for both client and internal projects. Work closely with strategy, finance, production, and influencer teams to bring creative concepts to fruition.

Innovation and Culture Connoisseur:

Champion a culture of curiosity and innovation by staying ahead of industry trends, integrating emerging technologies like Generative AI, and continuously adapting to the evolving social media landscape.

Client and Business Development Support:

Collaborate with clients, other departments, and new-business teams to support business development through concepting and pitching creative solutions that exceed client expectations and achieve measurable results.

Future-Oriented Growth Focus:

Support and help build the vision for the future of creativity at M+S, focusing on hiring for growth, from diverse backgrounds, building teams with unique skill sets, and developing new organizational structures or technologies to support creative work and agency growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

15+ years of experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked both brand-side and agency-side, in creative leadership roles. During this time you have built a track record of successful new business wins, as well as award-winning work.

Social Media Expertise: Proven track record in overseeing the development of creative work across social media, with specific experience working on big idea campaign platforms, as well as with short-form video content and other emerging platforms.

Leadership and Influence: Significant leadership experience in agency settings or with large brands, capable of leading by example, fostering a positive work environment, and encouraging a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Strategic Acumen: Deep understanding of marketing strategy and branding with the ability to meet and exceed the unexpressed needs of CMOs through insightful proposals and strategic thinking.

Exceptional communication skills: adept at inspiring teams, selling creative concepts persuasively through well-designed presentation decks, and maintaining robust client relationships.

Coaching and Positive Impact: Strong capabilities in coaching and helping team members grow, with a passion for spreading joy and a positive attitude in the workplace.

BASE SALARY RANGE

Our estimated range for this role is $275,000-325,000*

*Don’t let this range drive your decision to apply. Actual compensation packages are based on the level of skill and experience each candidate brings to their role. Similarly, there might also be a more senior or junior position available, that would be a better fit with your expertise. Each level has its own compensation range.
