ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Media Relations Manager to support the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO), District of Rhode Island (RI). In this role, you will develop and implement media strategies, manage community outreach programs, and support public education initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive media strategies and community outreach programsUse various forms of media to disseminate information to the publicSupport the District’s public education efforts through development and execution of public awareness programsWorks independently to identify key community leaders (e.g., city, state, federal law enforcement, mayors, etc.)Interact with them to further promote and develop plans of awareness and improvement.Determine effective outreach methods to begin developmental programs through varying community work groupsTake initiative to conduct interviews, schedule meetings, and coordinate case-related developmentsEstablish timelines and deadlines for management executionCoordinate meetings with various stakeholders to provide information and promote a positive district imageRespond to initial inquiries led by the U.S. Attorney and management teamTake the initiative to develop a work plan based on these inquiriesCommunicate responses via telephone or in personAccurately represent and develop the ideas of the U.S. Attorney’s Office missionReview city websites, daily and weekly newspapers for District related storiesMaintain files of press articles and publications relating to the district and distributes to appropriate partiesPrepare a reports, articles, and press releases related to the district’s community involvement and outreach activitiesManage the timing of events to ensure the district's visibility in the communityAddress specific programs as directed by the U.S. Attorney (e.g., Drug Endangered Child, Drug Court, etc.)Act as spokesperson and primary media contact for the U.S. Attorney’s OfficeRepresent the U.S. Attorney and all staff attorneys on matters related to the office's mission

BACKGROUND

Applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 100% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 100% of the time.
