Researcher/Grant Writer/Promotion, Our Local History

position will play a critical role in advancing the mission of Our Local History by conducting in-depth research, identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and communications strategy. The

Researcher/Grant Writer/Promotion, Our Local History

position requires strong analytical skills, exceptional writing abilities, and a deep commitment to social justice. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of translating complex information into compelling narratives.

In this role, you will be

Conducting thorough research on topics related to local civil rights history, social justice, and educational equity to support program development and grant applications.Building and managing relationships with historians, universities, librarians and other formal and informal holders of historical documents and knowledge.Working with co-directors to develop a research framework whereby primary and secondary research is disseminated among the team and fits into public programs and curriculum.Identifying and evaluating potential funding sources, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors.Providing research support for special projects, program evaluation, and strategic initiatives as needed.Identifying and pursuing public communications strategies to promote and advance Our Local History.Contributing to public-facing publications, including but not limited to social media, blogs, newsletters, reports or press releases.Supporting management in helping craft social media and public communication strategy to manage public perception and attract new business.Developing, writing, and submitting high-quality grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents.Collaborating with program staff to understand project goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with funding opportunities.Maintaining a comprehensive database of funding opportunities, grant submissions, and reporting requirements.Monitoring and tracking the status of submitted proposals and follow up with funding agencies as necessary.Assisting in the preparation of reports for funders, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deadlines.Staying current with trends in grant funding, education, social justice, and civil rights to inform strategic planning and proposal development.Building and maintaining relationships with potential funders and stakeholders, representing Our Local History in a professional and compelling manner.Other duties as assigned.Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years experience in Education, History, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related fieldExperience writing and winning grant awardsStrong understanding of civil rights history, social justice issues, and culturally responsive education.Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.Valid and current NYS Driver's LicenseWe Are
