The team you will be a part of

The Brand Management team is responsible for the strategic positioning and market activation of our brands in the region, driving brand identity, perceptions, and growth. The team leads marketing strategy, go-to-market and launch strategy, voice in market, advertising, earned media, content creation and development.

This role in summary

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking an Associate Director, Creative Strategy for its in-house, award-winning creative agency and studio, WoW Studios. Our growing team of passionate and collaborative humans is focused on best-in-class advertising, storytelling, and consumer experience for all of Whirlpool’s brands including KitchenAid, Whirlpool, JennAir, Maytag, and Amana. We’re committed to increasing and elevating Whirlpool’s output of campaigns, content, design, experiences, and digital innovation across all consumer touchpoints (in-store, film, social, digital, experiential, etc).

WoW Studios is located in the historic Reid Murdoch Building at the edge of Chicago’s Riverwalk and at Whirlpool’s Global Headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI. This role sits in our Chicago office.

The Associate Director, Creative Strategy will architect the strategic vision that helps uncover human-centered insights, provoke innovative creative ideas, and inspire teams to create breakthrough communications approaches across the Whirlpool portfolio of brands. Leading a team of strategists to push Whirlpool Corporation’s brands to breakthrough work, this professional will tackle strategic problem-solving from the product level and above, incorporating a mix of art and science along the way. An ideal candidate has a consumer centric mindset, is a student of emerging trends, is invested in enhancing capabilities of team members, and is able to seamlessly translate business needs into inspiring calls to action. They will work alongside Creative, Production, Studio, Brand, Retail Activation, Digital Marketing, Marketing Science, Media, Social, and Commercial business teams to build brand fame and loyalty through award-winning brand storytelling.

Your responsibilities will include

Strategic Leadership:

Lead a team of Creative Strategists to deliver comprehensive briefs that drive creative strategy for integrated campaigns, ensuring alignment with overall brand and business objectives, with an inspiring point of view.

Guide the development of strategic insights to inform creative concepts, content development, and campaign execution.

Partner with Marketing Science on learning plans, suggest and own the creative strategy learning plan, and participate in research, identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Brand Stewardship:

Ensure brand consistency and integrity across all creative outputs.

Advocate for the brand's voice, tone, and visual identity in all communications and creative materials.

Continuously seek opportunities to elevate and evolve the brand's creative expression.

Creative Excellence:

Collaborate with creative teams to brainstorm, develop, and execute innovative concepts and ideas.

Oversee the creative process from concept to execution, ensuring consistency and quality across all deliverables.

Review and provide feedback on creative work, ensuring it meets strategic goals and brand standards.

Organizational Support:

Be a part of the Brand Org Leadership Team, steering the culture, capabilities, and future of the broader org.

Be a trusted advisor to the cross-functional team helping to identify and execute top priority initiatives.

Partner with analytics and insights teams to set standards and best practices of measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of creative campaigns, using data to inform future strategies.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor’s degree (Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Marketing Research, Behavioral Psychology, Social Sciences, or related)

7+ years of experience in in a creative strategy, marketing strategy, consumer science, content strategy, strategic consulting, or related role, preferably within a creative agency environment

Expertise in go-to-market product strategy

Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, statistical analysis, and data visualization

Preferred skills and experiences

Ability to discern customer insight and “human truth” from large data sets

Exceptional writing and communication skills

Passion and empathy for the customer’s perspective

Champion creative storytelling that moves people to action

Proven track record of leveraging consumer insights to inform marketing strategies, influence creative execution, and drive business results

Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
