About the Role

Our ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in high-end residential design, an in-depth knowledge of managing multiple projects and design staff, hand and digital drafting, space planning, and an acumen for showroom/vendor relations. They will be collaborating with the design staff in all project phases from concept through installation and will be working directly with the founding principal. The right person for the role gets excited about managing diverse design projects and extremely talented creatives. Applicants must reside in or near our San Francisco studio and be able to reliably commute Monday - Friday with a 9/80 schedule.

Responsibilities Include:

Overall:

Work directly with or in place of the Principal on all design projects to steward the design and deadlines through to completion.

Monitor the quality of the design process, product, and deliverables for all design projects.

Display thorough knowledge of trade resources and continue to aspire ahead of industry trends and changes.

Project Management:

Oversee the creation and updating of project scope, budgets, and schedules.

Oversee the construction process in support of the designers: job site visits with subs, vendors, and clients.

Manage designers in coordinating project deliverables through to installation timelines.

Manage designers in preparing, managing, and maintaining project files, correspondence, drawings, and other materials.

Manage and oversee development of design from vision boards to drawings for permit and construction sets for interior architectural details, custom millwork, and furniture.

Management of Staff:

Lead and schedule project and team meetings regularly.

Mentor staff through the development of their design skills and overall professional growth.

Meet with each designer regularly to review progress towards these goals.

Monitor team performance and design approach to assure adherence to the firm's standards.

Initiate and work with team members to improve processes and updating documentation as needed.

Conduct staff performance reviews.

Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, offboarding.

Troubleshoot people issues.

Financial & Procurement Responsibilities:

Support the Procurement Specialist as needed.

Handle and resolve all production-related circumstances with vendors.

Coordinate shipping and deliveries for projects.

Coordinate the production of high-end furnishings, fabrics, and materials, including requests for quotes, CFAs/Strike, purchase order preparation, and expediting.

Review and approve employee and non-employee project time billings prior to issuing invoices.

Provide regular updates on the coordination of project staffing.

Assist Principal in Cultivating Strong Client Relationships:

Lead new prospective client meetings with and without Principal involvement.

Oversee collaboration as main point of contact for contractors, vendors, and consultants.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field.

7+ years' experience working in a professional interior design practice, concentration in high-end residential required.

7+ years of Management Experience.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, SketchUp, and Design Manager.

Proficient in Revit with 1-2 years’ experience in a professional setting.

Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills.

Skilled in conceptual thinking, experiential design, and storytelling in space.

Knowledge of FF&E, color & materials, design showrooms and dealers both locally and internationally.

Knowledge and experience with Art, Antiques, and Architectural/Historical Periods.

Hand-drafting.

$130,000.00 per year
