MORI is seeking a Science Technical Writer Editor for Goddard Spaceflight Center Office of Communications to lead the development of compelling news stories, feature articles, blog posts, and multimedia scripts in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. JOB DESCRIPTION / FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will translate complicated science into compelling blog posts, video scripts, podcast scripts, news releases, feature articles, social media content, web copy, and be a reliable source for copy- editing products. The right individual will help us expand our communication capabilities providing solid journalistic storytelling ability with the capacity to create engaging, creative online content. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of producing pieces that increase engagement. A high level of creativity and solid editorial judgement, combined with the ability to distill complex concepts and data into absorbing content is required for this position. The ability to use metrics analysis and engage with current NASA events, science, and research trends to write compelling material is vital to this role. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to meeting tight deadlines.

• Heliophysics Content Development: Lead the creation of compelling news stories, feature articles, blog posts, and multimedia scripts that align with and enhance heliophysics communications campaigns.

• Collaboration with Heliophysics Leadership: Work closely with Heliophysics leadership to identify key messages and develop communication products that effectively convey these messages to the public and scientific community.

• Event Leadership: Organize and execute press events and media workshops, ensuring that they effectively communicate complex heliophysics concepts to a diverse audience.

• Advanced Research and Analysis: Engage in in-depth research and analysis on heliophysics topics, leveraging this information to enrich and inform written and multimedia content.• Media Relations: Act as a key liaison for media inquiries, providing expert responses and facilitating a clear understanding of heliophysics research and discoveries.

• Mentorship and Guidance: Offer mentorship and guidance to early career writers, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their science communication skills.

Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions the employee bears travel costs to nearest NASA Center for badging and issue of NASA IT equipment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.

Preferred Qualifications:• Preference will be given to those with previous NASA or Government writing experience as well as a strong writing portfolio, bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite• Track record of producing pieces that increase engagement, creating successful social media strategies.

Salary Range: 73K to 90K, based on exp.
