Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Manager, Communications and Marketing for the Communications department of the Administrative Services division. The Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating the work for content development, design, and layout for the SDCOE's social media, website, multimedia, and print/digital publications and other communication tools; coordinates the use of multimedia to effectively engage with the public, outside organizations, and media outlets; and coordinates an overall presence for SDCOE while ensuring that representations of products/services meet established standards/themes.

ABOUT COMMUNICATIONSThe San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) works regularly with school and media personnel to help get the word out about what's happening in schools throughout the county. Our teammates have contacts in local print, television, and radio news departments, and can help educators with strategies for working with the media.

Internally, SDCOE produces a variety of publications and documents to keep the more than 1,000 people working for the County Office of Education informed.

Another important aspect of SDCOE communications is to facilitate partnerships between schools and businesses. These include internships for students and teachers, sponsorships of school programs, student and staff recognition programs, scholarships, and academic incentive programs.

SDCOE recognition programs include the annual Salute to Teachers event, as well as efforts that shine a spotlight on deserving educators and classified school employees throughout the county. SDCOE also celebrates the efforts of students, like those who compete at the annual San Diego County Spelling Bee.

Requirements / Qualifications

The Manager, Communications and Marketing position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree with a major in public relations, journalism, communications, advertising, graphics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the development, design, and implementation of communications/public relations strategies and related media, including online and print materials.

The results of this recruitment will be used to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacancy and any other vacancies in this classification for the next six (6) months, or until the list is exhausted.
