What You Will Do: 

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams and application users to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows. 

  • Define the design rationale and explain visual choices to cross-functional teams; express concepts verbally and visually. 

  • Research and implement modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency. 

  • Develop estimates on scope and duration of work required for individuals or team(s) to deliver client requirements. 

  • Build efficient, reusable libraries of design information for future use. 

  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. 

  • Ability to translate architecture and other technical solutions into design products. 

  • Recommend and support incremental implementation of enhancements to the accessibility, usability, and sustainability of the CDE-R, following government standards and industry best practices. 

  • Support UI enhancements that leverage CDE concepts to improve organization, search, and retrieval. 

  • Consult/make recommendations on UI improvements. 

  • Producing wireframes or mockups, as requested. 

  • Producing graphics, logos, etc., in support of UI improvements and alignment  with NIH/NLM digital guidelines. 

  • Support design, development, and testing of applications, websites and future APIs, and produce relevant documentation for external audiences.  

 

What You Will Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of TWO 2) year of work experience with Federal Clients. 

  • Best practices in user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design, website usability and accessibility, producing wireframes and mockups. 

  • Strong ability to effectively liaise between groups of various stakeholders (e.g., developers, testers, trainers). 

  • Knowledge of 508 compliance. 

 

What Would Be Nice To Have: 

  • Excellent communication skills – at ease with coordination and strategizing with leadership on initiatives, facilitating UI/UX sessions, and presenting to broad audiences when necessary. 

  • Experience working in agile, waterfall, or hybrid projects. 

 

The annual salary range for this position is $75,800.00-$113,600.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
