The Head of Planning is responsible for managing and overseeing the AJ+ Planning Team and leading the assignment process, ensuring that our long-term and immediate coverage of global and national trends, news events and social and political developments expresses the unique values of the AJ+ brand, and is consistently of a high quality, engaging and thorough. This position will also be required to develop and maintain effective editorial workflows between various departments of AJ+, as well as with other Newsgathering elements of the Al Jazeera Media Network. The Head of Planning will report to the Editorial Lead, and will oversee the process of developing, maintaining and implementing an agenda of editorial priorities, directing editorial resources to ensure the most effective, value-added, brand-building coverage of relevant national and international news events. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the daily assignment process
Manage planning team in creating prospects (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and special coverage strategies
Provide editorial direction to editorial teams based on news prospects and special events
Finalize and approve all planning schedules, on a weekly, monthly and annually basis
Coordinate with editorial and engagement teams on finalization of production schedules and special projects
Manage relationships with external partners and vendors where relevant
Oversee collaboration and communication between Planning Department and
Attend various conferences and festivals as necessary
Audience Development team on AJ+ coverage and prospects
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree or demonstrated experience
At least 7 years’ experience in editorial roles.
At least 3 years’ experience in an editorial leadership role, i.e. supervising a team of content creators.
Proven experience in video production or online Journalism.
