The Role

The Senior Account Supervisor, Media Relations is the heartbeat of any campaign and account. Your trusted relationships with the right people, media, and brands garner A-list media and influencer placements, noteworthy collaborations, and connections with your clients' target audiences. Your clients view you as a trusted resource and partner, and the media sees you as a go-to for story ideas and trends. You can plan an event, host a press trip, oversee media missions, garner feature coverage, and orchestrate a brand collaboration - all of this is your profession and your passion.

You'll lead smaller accounts, managing internal delegation, while also starting to step into account strategy alongside J/PR leadership. You'll participate in new business meetings, sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities

Media RelationsYou have a solid, trusted network of A+ media relationships whom you can tap on a moment's noticeYou are sourcing new and deeper relationships to deliver headline and feature news across Broadcast, Podcasts, major news titles, and emerging mediaYou are constantly seeking out new media relationships on behalf of your clients and the agencyOrganize pitch priorities; assign and oversee the progress of team members' pitches with support of account leadershipServe as the go-to media relations lead on accounts of all sizesRegularly coordinate in-person media meetings with journalists on-locationIntroduce new and existing editor relationships to JPR team members through in-office learning experiences and/or including JPR team members in on-location meetingsSecure and host media and influencers on press trips, media appointments, and eventsHave a vast understanding of key storylines across agency clients and concepting, pitching, and securing placements on thematic storylines across accountsMaintain agency docs and materials specific to media relations efforts, including oversight and updates in the JPR Resources folder:

Monthly relevant media leads shared documentAnnual calendar of pitches, including seasonal/ongoing holidays and notable media coverage moments, updating accordingly for the specific yearAgency Awards ListsAgency Master Media Lists

Account + Client Management

Contribute to 90-day and Annual Plan development to impact client goals and KPIs, with a keen eye on the media relations effortsLead smaller accounts with senior leadership oversight; create the strategy as an Account Lead on some accounts, asking for support from the Leadership Team when necessaryDevelop and implement creative & media worthy programs for clientsCreative brainstorming, program and pitch developmentBuild relationships with destinations, CVBs, and offices of tourism in the markets that serve your clientsStrategically and quickly react to client needsBegin to utilize Harvest to manage team members' time and account profitabilityNew Business

Act as a trusted resource to the new business committee tapped for ideas, recommendations, media contacts, publication suggestions, spec headlines, and more for proposalsParticipate as needed in new business pitch meetingsTeam Leadership

Oversee the workflow of junior team members, regularly guiding/ leading the junior team through pitch projects to make check marks against goals and KPIs both in person and remotelyReview and edit press materials with an eye for what will resonate with mediaSupport and offer insight as needed to senior leadershipOffer media expertise and insight to all agency teams through regular proactive communication as well as when needed for particular client challengesJ/PR / Industry

Work with JPR's Marketing Committee to develop creative pitches about the agency (culture, people, business, lifestyle) and secure placements that enhance the brand

Help draft and pitch announcements on promotions, personnel, award submissions, etc.

Weave your industry involvement into the collective knowledge base of the agency, reporting back on insightful information and creating opportunities for clients and the agencyResponsible for developing one educational-based Agency workshop each year, centric to the media landscapeAttend relevant industry (PR, media, etc) panels and meetings on behalf of the agencyOther

College Degree or comparable experience requiredAt least 7 years of working in a PR or influencer capacity with luxury brandsA proven travel record securing A-list placements for clientsPublic relations experience in travel, lifestyle or tourism having worked in an agency or in-house positionMust have notable media, client and brand referencesMust have strong and proven relationships with local, regional and national media contactsRequirements

Ability to travel for client needsExcellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint in a Microsoft Windows environmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, experience in a hospitality environment is a plusExcellent time management and organizational skillsMust be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely mannerStrong knowledge of media and news cyclesAbility to thrive in a deadline-driven environmentStrong understanding of Facebook, Twitter and InstagramStrong understanding of Influencer relations and engagementPolished and professional demeanorSelf-motivated with a positive natureMust have a valid passport for international travelBenefits
