Polysomnographer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the health and well-being of the patient by participating in the team effort of the Sleep Lab including: facilitating patient access, telephone triage, patient education, and solving patient care needs. The Polysomnographer must have sufficient knowledge and skills in communicating the purpose of positive airway pressure (PAP) and how to integrate PAP therapy in the home setting. The Polysomnographer needs to be able to desensitize patient to PAP therapy. Must also be able to recognize disabilities and handicaps some patients may have and be able to act and react with professionalism and courtesy while communicating with the patient. The HME Tech should be able to address the patients complex barriers regarding the PAP therapy when they arise, either via phone or in person. The Polysomnographer is directly responsible to the Manager of the Sleep Lab.Responsibilities:Essential Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation of all patient interactions. Provide appropriate patient instructions for sleep related needs including, but not limited to; correct use of Pap therapy, mask fittings, follow up instructions, scheduling procedures, and compliance requirements. Troubleshoot equipment issues. Extrapolate information to better help determine patient needs. Maintain adequate documentation for billing all services. Periodically review procedures and collaborate with manager to reflect changes in services provided. Maintain patient records and confidentiality of patient records. Download the CPAP machine information and provide documentation of such to patient and patients provider. Assesses, coordinates, and evaluates the services being provided. Initiate and document the Plan of Care and necessary revisions. Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality. Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, and illness. Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation. Communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background. Incorporate guest relations in daily activities.Qualifications:Licesnure/Certifications:

Oregon Polysomnography License, BLSEducation:

Graduate of an accredited polysomnography program or respiratory therapy programExperience:

Recent experience in polysomnography preferred
