Vice President of Product Design

to help hire, develop, and lead a growing team of designers & researchers. As the

VP of Product Design,

you will report to the CTO and will play a pivotal role in shaping the design vision and direction of our products alongside product and engineering leaders, fostering creativity and innovation, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional end-to-end experiences that are not only visually appealing and intuitive but exceed market and customer needs.

This role can be 100% remote in an approved US location.

Responsibilities

Set the strategic direction for product design, establishing design principles, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, coherence, and excellence in design execution.

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented designers, providing guidance, support, and feedback to foster professional growth and development. Ensures the team has what they need to succeed.

Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, leaders, and other stakeholders to align design efforts with business goals, user needs, and technical constraints.

Define and communicate the long-term design strategy and vision, identifying opportunities for innovation and differentiation to drive product success.

Advocate for user-centric design principles and methodologies, ensuring that user needs, behaviors, and feedback are integrated into the design process at every stage.

Continuously evaluate and improve design processes, workflows, and tools to enhance efficiency, productivity, and collaboration within the design team and across departments.

Establish quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that design deliverables meet high standards of quality, usability, and accessibility.

Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, product managers, and other team leaders, to gain support for design initiatives and foster a culture of design excellence.

Manage and prioritize design projects, staff, and resources to meet deadlines and budgets.

Speaks the language of business. Connects what’s good for the customer experience to what is good for the business.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field.

15+ years of proven product design experience and 8+ years as a product design leader, with a track record of successfully leading design teams and delivering exceptional user experiences.

Experience leading design teams of at least 10-15+ people

Background in design and not just project management/people management. Extensive experience in user-centered design principles and methodologies, with a deep understanding of UX/UI design principles, interaction design, and information architecture.

Portfolio required to showcase design understanding, problem-solving, creative thinking/direction, and outcomes you have impacted.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make compelling arguments for decisions to stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrated ability to attract, inspire, and grow world-class experience design talent

Preferred candidates will have experience in the information services and technology space–specifically, pivoting information companies into data-centric, subscription-based digital platforms.

Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $189,000 and $280,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
