Overview
Position Summary
The Marketing Intern works closely with the Director of Marketing on efforts to promote the agency's mission and activities, create digital and print collateral, and seek grant funding. Duties could include social media management, creating visual and written marketing material, assisting in event planning and execution, grant research and writing, and other marketing and media communications tasks. This is 13-week, part-time internship based in our office in St. Charles, MO. Schedule is 12 hours per week, during normal business hours of 8-4PM Monday through Friday. Additional hours, including some evening and weekend hours, could be necessary.
Organization Description
United Services for Children is a nonprofit organization that provides pediatric therapy and early intervention services to children of all abilities and offers support services for their families. We focus on children ages birth through 8 years old. Our center is located at 3420 Harry S Truman Blvd. in St. Charles, serving approximately 275 children annually.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Working conditions are in a normal office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and evening hours and local travel. Must be able to:
Access and maneuver independently between offices and classroomsConverse in person and via the telephoneVisually, orally, and physically observe and respond to the needs of co-workers, parents, and other visitors of the agencyMove and manipulate standard office equipmentBe able to reach up to 18 inches horizontally and verticallyBalance, bend, stoop, or squat to retrieve items from the floorSit at a table/desk for a considerable portion of the daySafely lift, carry, or move 10 lbs consistently and up to 45 lbs occasionallyBe able to push and pull up to 25 lbs frequentlyRequirements
Responsibilities
The Marketing Intern must:
Provide administrative support for marketing, communications and grant seeking activities.Assist with department projects related to internal and external communication and promotion.Assist in shooting video and still photography, including interviewing parents on camera and documenting agency activities and history.Assist in researching and writing grants.Assist in social media management.Assist in event planning, with focus on the annual autism awareness event.Develop familiarity with email marketing automation platforms, social media management systems, and grant search software.Demonstrate creative thinking in visual and written communications for internal and external audiences. This includes a command of fundamental visual design principals.Always model a standard of behavior consistent with agency expectations.
Education Qualifications
Preferred to be currently enrolled in college-level degree program pursuing a degree in nonprofit management, communications, writing, or marketing.
Experience Qualifications
Some experience preferred in audio/visual communications, public relations, and grant writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Adobe Creative Suite experience strongly desired. Must have understanding of basic marketing and media communications concepts.
Skills: Strong visual design and written composition abilities. Must have a strong work ethic and be eager to learn. Superior attention to detail, organization, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills all required daily.
Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate accountability for results and interact with individuals inside and outside the organization, such as families, supporters, volunteers, media.
