Overview

The Associate Director of Creative Services enhances the reputation and brand of The Joint Commission and its affiliates through a strong brand and visual identity carried out across all media (digital, print, web, social, etc.). The Associate Director is responsible for developing and maintaining consistency of a strong brand for all of the enterprise’s various stakeholders — staff, accredited and certified organizations, influencers, and the public. The leader of this team works closely with the Chief Brand & Communications Officer, senior leadership, managers and staff throughout the enterprise globally to establish tools and processes to execute a consistent look and feel for all Joint Commission and affiliate communications products.

Responsibilities

Establishes a brand and visual identity consistent with brand positioning, taking into account The Joint Commission’s global presence and affiliated organizations.

Leads development of multimedia products to support mission and commercial activities, including fact sheets, brochures, infographics, videos, powerpoint presentations, podcasts, webinars, environmentals/signage or other deliverables as developed or requested.

Provides art direction for all visual projects to ensure consistency of brand identity standards and elevates work product to achieve high levels of quality and impact.

Presents design concepts, collects feedback and adapts to finalize projects to meet expectations of internal clients and/or outside collaborators/partners.

Supervises team of in house and contracted/agency designers, photographers, videographers and other specialty talent (illustrators, animators, etc.) and manages pipeline of projects to meet deadlines and build customer satisfaction.

Maintains network of external vendors (freelance writers, designers, videographers, animators and photographers) to support projects when needed. Negotiates cost and time schedules to meet budget and deadlines.

Fosters collaboration and communication across the Creative Services team. Connects with peers on the Brand/Communications division to ensure consistency of messaging, coordination of timing, and effectiveness of campaigns, launches, etc.

Supervises the Creative Services staff to high performance, including active coaching and professional development. Implements business continuity plans during or after normal work hours.

Leverages metrics and data to inform innovation and changes in strategy or approach.

Assumes other duties and special assignments as assigned by the Chief Brand/Communications Officer.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Art, Graphic Design, Videography, Multimedia or related field, and seven to 10 years of experience required. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 years supervising staff required.

Excellent visual, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills required.

Significant experience with creative tools including Adobe Creative Cloud, film/video editing, digital media required.

Experience presenting design concepts to senior executive audiences and gaining buy in and support for visuals that reinforce brand identity goals.

Familiarity with global audiences and healthcare industry experience preferred.
