Job Summary

The Colorectal Center Scheduling/Authorization Coordinator collaborates with multiple departments and external offices to schedule appointments and reschedule as needed. Answers incoming calls and takes messages for physicians and staff. Collects new patient intake information and performs data entry. Completes insurance verification and obtains prior authorizations if needed.

Job Specific Duties

Answers incoming calls, routes calls to appropriate staff, and takes messages for staff and physicians.Logs consult requests.Schedules office visit appointments and surgeries for patients. Confirms patient appointments.Registers patients and completes intake for new patients.Completes insurance verification and obtains prior authorizations.Collaborates with multiple teams/departments including external offices to schedule appointments.Assists in clinic duties, such as filing documents, ordering supplies, identifying patient and guardian, guiding patient to appropriate location, etc.Maintains email communication with patients, families, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless process.Ensures adequate and accurate documentation for patient intake, insurance verification, authorization, etc.Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

1-3 years of customer service experienceBilingual: English and Spanish requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High School education or equivalent preferred.Basic level proficiency in MicroSoft Word and Excel.Experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations preferred.Experience using Cerner EMR preferred.Medical office experience preferred.Able to work from clinic and hospital locations at Main.Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers.Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Able to follow detailed written or verbal instructions such as filing and copying.Comfortable communicating with physicians, nurses, managers, patients, and their families.
