Social Media Intern !

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Social Media Coordinator, this part-time internship will support our Marketing Department with analyzing social media trends and creating engaging social media content. This is a position that requires both strategic problem solving and hands-on marketing skills. This is an excellent opportunity to assist a best in class, mission-driven service organization within the animal welfare industry.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities

This role requires a combination of creative vision, advocacy, analysis, and entrepreneurial skills. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research and present new social trends, pop culture references and opportunities to create buzzworthy content on social media.

Produce original social content for Instagram Stories, Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Maintain the Great Plains SPCA brand by studying the target markets and competitors.

Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.

Represent Great Plains SPCA and its related affiliates in a professional manner at all times.

Perform other related tasks as assigned.

QualificationsExperience Requirements

Pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Digital Marketing or other related field required. Must provide proof to receive credit through the internship toward the completion of a degree.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Organizing work effectively, conceptualizing and prioritizing objectives and exercising independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.

Critical and analytical thinking processes.

Awareness of and interest in latest digital, social media and emerging trends shaping animal welfare.

Working in a fast-paced, team environment.

Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail and a drive for perfection.

Excellent writing skills.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Additional Requirements

Possess a valid driver’s license.

Work Conditions

Ability to remain calm and empathetic in stressful situations.

Compassion and empathy for animals and humans.

High school diploma or GED.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, carrying, and reaching.

Prefer familiarity with computer functions and programs such as Internet and web-based programs, Microsoft Office.

Handle and restrain animals weighing up to 100 lbs.

Lift 50 lbs. to waist height.
