Social Media / Marketing InternshipCommon Threads is seeking a part-time Marketing & Communications Intern (unpaid) for a one semester term (approximately 4 months). Interns seeking academic credit are preferred. This is a work from home/remote position

approximately 10 - 15 hours per week

with preference given to interns in one of Common Threads’ market locations (i.e., Miami, New York, Chicago, Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth).Marketing & Communications interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit marketing communications, including writing and editing, social media and graphic design.The intern will create, edit and contribute to a variety of communications materials and project activities. This includes content for the website, internal communications, blogs, social media, news releases, fact sheets, newsletters, speaking points and fundraising campaigns.Qualified candidates are great writers and editors, with a knack for creative ideas and the ability to create a variety of content in Common Threads’ organizational voice. The intern provides some basic graphic design support (Canva; InDesign and Photoshop experience a plus).Responsibilities:Create engaging written and visual content, including articles and blogs, social media, news releases, videos and newslettersContribute to the creation of event collateral - save the date(s), invitation(s), web & social media content, ticket sales pages, etc.Assist in management of communications and event calendar, including graphics and copy for social media postsQualifications:Pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in marketing, communicationsFamiliarity with software such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and CanvaDesire to learn new skills and work on a variety of projectsAbility to work independently, including in a remote environment; candidates should have reliable access to high speed Internet and a laptop/computer/digital tablet with webcam.Experience working with culturally diverse audiencesExcellent work ethic and reliabilityInterns are subject to a background check prior to working at Common ThreadsPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
