N Position Type Management JOB SUMMARY The Sr. Systems Engineer, Content Delivery ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and technologies that support Marriott International's Cloud Content Delivery Strategy. This role leads the technical delivery of infrastructure and Cloud Content Delivery projects. Serves as a subject matter expert in a complex array of full stack solutions. The role is a discipline which combines both software and systems engineering to build and operate large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Performs research, analysis, design, creation, and implementation of systems to meet current and future requirements while enabling customer facing and enterprise products/platforms. Partners with business, technology leaders, architects, and other engineers across other disciplines to engineer systems as well as the systems that deliver those systems. He or she, engineers these systems to ensure that Marriott's services have the necessary resiliency and uptime appropriate to user needs while being able to deliver a fast rate of change, functional and non-functional improvements. Provides solutions that serve our business leveraging current and leading-edge technologies in an innovative and impactful manner. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required: + Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification + 7+ years' experience of progressive engineering experience that includes: + 5+ years Linux experience + 5+ years experience in Cloud technologies including Iaas/Paas/Saas deployments on Public Cloud + 5+ years experience in OS scripting and automation + 5+ years experience in Middleware, Database, Content Management, and BI Platforms + 3+ years experience with cloud computing technology and its concepts (e.g. AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud) + 3+ years professional experience in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) modeling including infrastructure + as code development (Terraform or similar) or infrastructure engineering at enterprise scale + 3+ years of experience providing similar operations and sustainment support with technologies like: AWS cloudfront, Akamai, Redis, varnish, Fortify other Content Delivery Network (CDN) Preferred: + Graduate Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering + 2+ years' experience in working with Kubernetes Container-as-a-Service Platforms (Docker Enterprise, Red Hat OpenShift Enterprise, VMware EKS, Mesosphere) + Experience with Security Protocols (SSL, SAML, SAMP, LDAP etc.) and controls (container scanning, log aggregation, network scanning, CVE) + Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby + Experience in designing, analyzing, and engineering large-scale distributed systems + Experience in the design, implementation and operational support of mission critical solutions + Familiarity with both relational (Oracle, DB2, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL Server), non-relational (Cassandra, Couchbase, MongoDB) database technologies, and database caching technologies (Memcached, Redis) + Familiarity with cloud native database technologies (Microsoft Azure CosmosDB, Amazon RDS Aurora) + Requirement gathering, validation, fulfillment and change management + Excellent understanding of change management, testing requirements, techniques, and tools to ensure high availability of systems + Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities + Infrastructure operations experience including self-healing autonomy + Provide functional, technical, and/or process leadership, or Project Management experience + Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products + Experience in developing technology roadmaps and strategies + Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams + Demonstrated experience delivering technology solutions in a fast-paced, deadline driven enterprise environment + Demonstrated experience learning and applying new technologies to solve business needs + Excellent problem-solving skills working independently and through leading outcomes for cross functional teams + Experience operating in Scaled Agile Framework Other Technical Skills: + Infrastructure and Configuration Management as Code Services including: + Development (Web Services) + Expert understanding of infrastructure technologies including some or all of the following: + Experience in Network Edge solutions + In-depth understanding of CDN concepts and experience with Akamai ION Platform, WAF, managed Kona and Bot Manager + Responsible for managing and configuring Akamai Property Manager, Phased Release Cloudlets, and Edge Redirector Cloudlets + In-depth understanding of observability tools like Splunk and Dynatrace, BigPanda and other relevant tools + Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, Windows, CentOS + Network Virtualization: Akamai Global Traffic Management and Edge & Delivery Networks, Elastic Load + Balancing Services, Domain Name Services and Registration + Storage: Local Block Storage, Object Storage, Cross Region Replication (XDCR), Backup & Recovery Best Practices + Security: Compliance, Information Assurance, Data Protection using industry-best practices and tooling + (Crowdstrike Falcon, Tenable.io, Splunk Phantom, HashiCorp Vault signers, SHA1 and SHA2 certificate management) + Applications Frameworks: Tomcat, Java Spring, Java Play, node.js, NginX, JavaEE, HTML5 + Experience architecting Disaster Recovery solutions for mission critical infrastructure in public cloud and datacenter environments + Experience with serverless cloud architecture + Experience operating in an agile scrum environment. + Delivery focused with experience to deliver incrementally at a fast pace in 2-week sprints + Meet with product owners and stakeholders to refine requirements etc. + Optimize configuration and cache settings to speed up web requests and provide a better user experience.
