Description

CSouthern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking a dynamic individual to grow and enhance its social media platforms. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Social Media coordinator strategizes for, creates content, posts and manages SIUE's social media channels, based on the online behavior of prospective students, educators and counselors, parents, donors, press, and general audiences.

In this role, you will use best practices and trends in social media marketing, be a visible and engaged member of the campus community, possess excellent writing and proofreading skills, be able to work both independently and collaboratively, and understand how to build and convert a digital audience.

You will also monitor account activity and lead the university's efforts to remain relevant, engaging and on the leading edge of social media content that effectively and successfully tells the SIUE story and communicates the bold culture of SIUE.

In this position you will be responsible for the following:Social media reporting for designated university events and profilesCollaborate with and lead other university social media account owners and users, including the Chancellor's social platformsCreate and maintain paid social media advertising campaignsWork with other communicators across the campuses to ensure all university social media channels are following best practices and working to grow their audiences as wellTrack and report analytics pertaining to growth, comparative timelines and posts and brandingInitiate projects and storytelling that are exclusive to university social media channelsThe ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and best practices for employing social media as an avenue for visibility and growth, experience in video production, content, or digital marketing, a degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field, and five years of demonstrated professional experience creating and posting social media.Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, communications design, public relations, or a closely related field.A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated professional experience in creative content production. Experience should cover a variety of media-related responsibilities including social media campaigns, branding and design.Experience in content or digital marketing.Experience in shooting and editing spot videos to accompany social posts when necessaryThe Social Media coordinator role requires an individual who is well-versed in social media content creation, analytics, planning and innovation, as well as best practices for the producing of and strategy for both paid and organic social media content.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor in Fine Arts in Communication Designor

Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public relations, Business or a closely related field.

Illinois Residency Requirement:

Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
