Job Summary Amazon seeks a Finance Manager to join the Books Finance team. The successful candidate will be thoughtful, analytical, and have a demonstrated ability to effectively influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication, financial analysis, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. The role operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment, and will provide decision support and advice for key business leaders.

Key Job Responsibilities

Controllership of the businessLead and participate as the key finance stakeholder in cross functional teamsImplement and drive the core financial processes and reporting for the business including Annual Operating Plans, Long Term Plans, and Monthly/Quarterly Business ReviewsIdentify operating improvements, deep dive on cost structures, and analyze business opportunities/investments.Leading ad hoc financial analyses and root cause investigations

A Day in the Life This is a finance business partner role leading Established Light (EL) Finance for the Books business. The role involves:Owning full P&L controllership and business partnership from top to bottom lineSupporting multiple Marketplaces (Canada, Mexico, Australia, Rest of World)Overseeing the business across both print and digital formatsProviding strategic leadership for a scalable approach to business problems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMBA, or CPAKnowledge of SQL/ETL6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experienceExperience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
