DescriptionIdaho National Laboratory is hiring an Experiment Design Department Manager to work in our Experiment Design department.

Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.The Experiment Design Department is responsible for the design, fabrication, and assembly of irradiation experiments at the INL.

These experiments provide intrinsic data in the certification of new nuclear fuels, existing fleet life extensions, and new materials certifications.Responsibilities Include:Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and/or professionals.

Provide guidance to team members within the latitude of established company policies.Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization.

Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.Execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce.

Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks.

May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.Receive objective based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.Responsible for single function, location, and/or technical discipline.Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines.

Help develop overall objectives and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.Work with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.Partner with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other external partners.Communicate and present results and recommendations across discipline.Third level of management with human resource responsibilities.

Typically, all work is performed through the management of others.Design Authority for irradiation experiments.

Maintain experiment design guides.

Perform minor design work.

Attend, review, and approve experiment design meetings and associated documentation.You will directly report to the Director.QualificationsMinimum Requirements: Degree BS or MS in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, and related discipline with commensurate experience in the nuclear field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear materials R&D.

Evidence of increasing leadership and management.

Knowledge of nuclear fuel and material experiments and irradiation testing.Experience with ATR and/or TREAT experiment design and operations required.Knowledge of design and drafting practices and tools (e.g., 3-dimensional modeling, engineering analysis, and design software).

Knowledge of nuclear reactor systems, and reactor experiments.

Further requirements include experience with quality assurance (specifically NQA-1), design control, specifications, procurement/contracting, and graded rigor application.This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Job Information: The target pay range for this position is $137,205.00- $203,855.00 annually.

The full pay range is $103,032.00- $262,740.00.
