Audio & Media Technologies (AMT) provides the audio and media foundation across all of Apple’s software platforms, alongside innovative hardware products like Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and AirPods, as well as consumer and professional applications like GarageBand, Logic Pro, iMovie, and Final Cut Pro.

The Audio Triage Operations team screens and organizes incoming bug reports across all of Apple’s products and customer base. We are seeking a creative and organized triage engineer to join our team as we field audio bugs from engineering, developers, and customers—truly, the whole world. In this role, you will interact with a massive breadth of audio issues spanning across all of our hardware and software products, including accessories. Critical yet thoughtful thinking is your strong suit—you are able to identify and appreciate nuances between products and features related to audio.DescriptionThis is a high visibility job that involves a deep understanding of what everyone on the team is working on. You combine a love of Apple software, hardware, and audio with a strong dedication to product quality and reliability. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. You are a desirable teammate, but also able to work effectively on your own.In this role, you will:- Read, triage, and route audio bugs to Audio engineering and audio-adjacent teams- Use debugging and analysis tools to perform initial analysis of bug reports- Detect repetitive manual routines and aid the conversion of them into automated tools for team use- Identify potential trends in incoming bugs and escalate to program management- Work directly with engineering and cross-functional, audio-adjacent screening and triage teams in order to solve complex problemsMinimum QualificationsB.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Music Technology, or equivalent experience3-5+ years of experience related to software development and/or testingFamiliarity with real-time audio handling (sample rates, buffering, PCM, drivers, etc.)Strong problem solving and debugging skillsExemplary written communication skills, and considerate, yet confident personal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsA foundational understanding of electronics, audio technology, and recording studiosAnalysis capabilities related to CPU performance and memory debuggingExperience and familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languagesCoreAudio API experience is a plusAI/ML experience is a plusPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
