About the Job

Responsibilities

Primary areas of responsibility include leading collaborative efforts to identify, select, and implement innovative technologies to enhance the Library's operations, productivity, and delivery of services to the Law School community; managing and developing the University of Minnesota Law School Scholarship Repository; and utilizing online tools for gathering and quantifying metrics, and training Law Library staff in the use of these tools.

The Technology Innovation & Reference Librarian is a member of the Law Library's reference team, providing expert reference and research assistance, participating in the reference schedule rotation, and preparing and updating research guides. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the Library's instructional programs through participation in legal research instruction and the development of online resources such as multimedia tutorials; assisting in the development of content for and other enhancements to the Law Library's website; participating in collection development; and performing other duties as assigned.

This position represents the Law Library on campus, regional, and national levels, engages in research and scholarship relevant to law librarianship, substantive legal subjects, or new technologies, and participates in professional service activities.

Qualifications

Required QualificationsJ.D. from an A.B.A. accredited law schoolM.L.S. from an A.L.A. accredited graduate schoolMinimum of two years of law library reference experienceDemonstrated knowledge of current information technologies and high interest in new and emerging technologiesEvidence of strong research competency, including ability to analyze research requests effectively, conduct expert legal and interdisciplinary research, synthesize research results, and deliver a high quality, comprehensive final productEvidence of strong written and oral communication skillsEvidence of exceptional service philosophyDemonstrated ability to take initiative, as well as work collaborativelyDemonstrated potential for scholarly productivity and participation in professional activities

Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated web development skills and knowledge of content management systems such as DrupalExperience with library technologies, including Lib Guides and Digital CommonsTeaching experience
