Position Summary:The Robert W. Van Houten Library at New Jersey Institute of Technology(NJIT) seeks a creative, curious, and detail-oriented Student SuccessLibrarian to develop and nurture an undergraduate-focused informationliteracy program. This is a 12-month professional staff position and worksunder the direction of the Associate University Librarian for Research &Engagement. The successful candidate will incorporate resilience,resourcefulness, and solutions orientation to manage time and deadlines, aswell as balance demands and priorities. The position typically works a35-hour work week with one remote work day and may require occasional eveningand weekend hours based on instructional needs.

Essential Functions:InformationLiteracy, Instruction, and Outreach (80%):- Collaborates with faculty to designoutcomes-based information literacy instruction aligned with courseobjectives, course assessments, and educational standards such as ABET andthe ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.- Team leader for the librarians indeveloping instructional materials, establishing best practices, stayingcurrent with pedagogical developments, and scheduling library instruction.- Uses various instructionaltechnologies to develop information literacy instruction in a variety ofmodalities (online, blended, hybrid, in-person).- Develops undergraduate-focusedinstruction program across the curriculum, in particular for first-year courses:First Year Seminar, English 102, and Fundamentals of Engineering Design (FED)101.- Conducts formative and summativeassessments of undergraduate information literacy instruction.- Contributes to the Library's socialmedia accounts by creating campaigns/content to promote information literacy,collections, resources, and services.- Works collaboratively withlibrarians, particularly subject liaison librarians, and other units oncampus to develop, promote, and support various programming for open access,data management, and scholarly communications.- Partners with the ScholarlyCommunications Librarian to collaborate and manage the Open & AffordableTextbook (OAT) program by assisting in discovering, adapting, creating, andusing OER content for the undergraduate students.- Partners with the Library Access& Outreach Services Coordinator to plan and promote library collections,resources, services, and events focusing on undergraduate students.- Monitors emerging national trendsin library outreach and instruction.- Serves on library, faculty, anduniversity-wide committees.

SubjectLiaison (20%)- Serves as the subject liaisonlibrarian to an academic department as assigned.- Contributes to on-call shifts toprovide reference and research support in person, via chat, phone, and email.- Collection development for assignedsubject.- Creates and maintains researchguides and instructional materials for assigned subject.

Additional Functions:Performs other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:-

An ALA-accredited Master's degree in library information science orrelated field.- Three (3) years ofrelevant professional library experience supporting information literacy in acollege/university library.- Demonstrated knowledge ofissues, trends, and technologies related to academic research, instructionaltechnologies, and information literacy instruction.- Demonstrated excellencewith interpersonal skills and project management.- At the university'sdiscretion, formal education and experience prerequisites may be accepted ifthe candidate can demonstrate an equivalent combination of education andexperience to the satisfaction of the university, specifically preparing thecandidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:-

A second Master's degree in a STEM or education discipline.- Instructional designtraining/certification.- Experience in searchingScopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and other academic databases.- Ability to workindependently and collaboratively as part of a team.
