Job Summary

The California Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi) is hiring a Creator and Storyteller for video, social media and digitalmedia who has a strong creative drive and track record with making a high volume of content to coordinate andmanage our social media channels and website. We're seeking someone who loves to create, thrives on tryingnew things and learning, has many ideas and can balance all of this with executing and aligning the work withthe organization's objectives.

This role reports the director of communications and the person in it will need to be able to work independentlyand collaboratively with the director of communications, broader communications team, our staff, CommunityAdvisory Board members, and others on our team to create content for all our social media accounts, includingInstagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook with an emphasis on video.The work includes coming up with concepts using a wide variety of source material, shooting video and stillcontent, editing videos, retouching photos, mixing sound, and building out production- and go-live-readycontent. It also means scheduling, posting, monitoring analytics, and logistical coordination with our talent. Thisrole will require someone who is able to generate a lot of ideas and also produce a moderate to high volume ofcontent. It may be also helpful for this role to record voiceovers and be talent in videos.The goal is to build an authentic and responsive online presence for PTBi and our public awareness campaign,Voices for Birth Justice, on all of our channels. Department Description

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob/Gyn & RS) is a major academicDepartment in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research, and training activities at the Parnassus, Mt.Zion, Mission Bay, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Campuses, as well as satellite locations throughout theSan Francisco Bay Area, with an annual operating budget of $129 million. The Department has ranked No. 1 inresearch funding from the National Institutes of Health for the fourth straight year. The Department has 86 full-time faculty, 136 other academic appointees, 18 post-doctoral fellows, 20 clinical fellows, 32 residents, 113voluntary clinical faculty, and 310 staff. The mission of the UCSF Ob/Gyn & RS Department is to improve thelives and health of all women through excellence, innovation, and leadership in Patient Care, ScientificDiscovery, Education, and Advocacy.The UCSF California Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi-CA) is a multi-year, transdisciplinary research effort to reducethe burden of prematurity among those at highest risk for preterm birth-women of color and lower-incomewomen. Recognizing the role of "place" as a strong determinant of health and wellbeing - including the risk ofpreterm birth - PTBi-CA takes a place-based approach focusing our work on affected communities in SanFrancisco, Oakland, and Fresno. We bring together academic researchers from different disciplines, healthcareproviders, public health departments, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to work inpartnership with affected communities. Most importantly, we partner with women with lived experience duringall phases of the research, including developing and prioritizing the research agenda, enhancing study designs toensure cultural appropriateness and maximum impact, and ensuring dissemination of results to a broad audienceof stakeholders. PTBi-CA is generously funded by Marc and Lynne Benioff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in video production, filmmaking, art, history, public health, media, public policy, journalism, design, marketing, communications, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training3+ years of directly relevant experiencePrior experience creating and developing social medial content across platforms, includinga deep knowledge of the specs and requirements for each. Eye for engaging visual storytelling, specifically regarding idea conception and art directing for short-form digital and social contentDemonstrated advanced knowledge of online video, digital and social media ecosystemsDemonstrated advanced knowledge of the TikTok and Instagram platforms, hashtags, sounds, algorithms, and post formatsSuperb communication skills online, in person, and internally with cross-disciplinary teams. Not afraid to speak up if an idea doesn't work, coupled with the ability to bring a better idea to the table and work with the broader team to bring that idea to lifeThorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectivesExcellent interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to brainstorm, develop, and execute social media and video campaignsExcellent project and time management skills and the ability to learn quickly and accommodate rapid change. Acute attention to detailWork effectively as a member of a small team. Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated Drupal, WordPress, HTML, or digital content management systems experience

Practical knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics and Google Analytics and web analysistools. Well-versed in web analytics, banner ads, and mobile appsExperience mixing and editing soundExperience with how titling and thumbnails can affect a video's performance. Proficiency in photography and basic photo retouchingKnowledge or experience in the birth/reproductive justice spaceExperience creating, editing, and color-grading video content using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar programs3+ years of experience producing mobile video and working on social media platforms3-5+ years of experience working with social/digital creative
