The Outreach and Engagement Program Lead Librarian is a newly created position that will focus on building an effective outreach and engagement program at Auraria Library. This position will lead the library's new Outreach Team, which will consist of members from across the library and be charged with organizing outreach and engagement events and activities to build and maintain relationships with the campus community and connect them to library resources, services, and spaces. The Outreach and Engagement Program Lead will work closely with the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) Team to shape the library's vision for outreach and engagement and ensure that efforts are consistent with the library's communication goals. As a member of the Access and User Services Department, this position will also staff the library's two main service points and provide information assistance, circulation, and wayfinding help for users.

Faculty members on the Instructor track have a workload distribution of 90% librarianship and 10% service. As a faculty member, this position participates on Library and campus-wide committees and in CU Denver faculty governance. The position engages in fulfilling the research and educational missions of the Auraria Library and the three institutions on the Auraria Campus - the University of Colorado Denver, the Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Community College of Denver. This position is in the Library's Division of Research, Learning, and User Services.

Located in downtown Denver, Colorado, the Auraria Campus is home to three institutions of higher education - University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Community College of Denver - both MSU Denver and CCD are Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI), and CU Denver is a Asian American Native American Pacific Islander (AANAPISI) serving institution and is working toward HSI designations. The Auraria Library serves the campus' of over 35,000 students, the majority of whom are from the first-generation in their family to enroll in higher education. Most of the students are Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color, and we also serve large populations of veterans, transfer students, adult learners, and other populations that have been historically underserved. What you will do:

Outreach

*

In collaboration with stakeholders across the library, develops and implements a community-centered vision for library outreach.

*

Leads Auraria Library's Outreach Team to coordinate outreach to campus and community stakeholders. Includes organizing library events for external stakeholders, coordinates partner tabling in the library, and participation in campus events, such as orientations, welcome weeks, finals, etc., by finding staffing, choosing appropriate resources to promote, and reporting back to library on impact.

Conducts assessment on outreach programs and creates and shares outreach activity reports across library in written reports and presentations.

*

Works closely with Marketing & Communications (MarCom) Team to ensure alignment between outreach efforts and library communication.

*

Identifies new engagement opportunities and partnerships that could include faculty, staff, student, or community organizations.

*

Creates engagement opportunities to elevate stakeholder voices in selection, planning, and implementation of Auraria Library initiatives and projects.

*

Collects information about all library outreach efforts to avoid duplication and coordinate messaging.

Access Services

*

Provides direct patron service to a diverse community and strives to create a library environment for all users by practicing equitable and inclusive customer service practices.

*

Serve as staff point-person during first floor Ask Us Desk shifts solving customer concerns and supporting colleagues by providing circulation duties and training.

*

Serve as a member of the second floor Ask Us Desk unit to meet user needs on the Library's second floor by answering directional questions, technology troubleshooting, handling circulation transactions, and providing first-tier reference.

Liaison Duties

*

Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback about Auraria Library and share information with appropriate partners.

Leadership and Service

*

Participates on Library and campus-wide committees and CU Denver faculty governance.

Other

*

Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Primary work schedule 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. Some nights, weekends and/or early morning shifts when necessary to provide coverage or staff outreach events. All staff in the Access & User Services Department work a 4:1 schedule, four days in the library, one day remote. A five-day in the library schedule may be required depending on in-person needs.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $ [65,000 - 70,000].

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications

*

Master's Degree from an ALA-accredited library school/program or equivalent.

*

1 year of experience participating in outreach work in a library.

*

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

*

Experience overseeing outreach initiatives at an academic library.

*

Experience providing high-quality customer service at front-line circulation service points at a library.

*

Supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
