The WVU School of Music invites candidates who demonstrate success in multiple styles of voice, at undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The primary assignment is teaching applied voice employing both traditional and contemporary techniques that serve the numerous degree tracks and unique goals of our student population. The needs of the school include soprano and mezzo-soprano, but all voice types will be considered. Attracting and maintaining an active studio of voice students is expected. Participation in School of Music activities and faculty governance is required. Other teaching responsibilities could include voice pedagogy, diction, class voice, or other duties according to the needs of the School of Music and the abilities and interests of the candidate.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track visiting appointment with the potential for renewal.

THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC brings together musicians and scholars from across the nation and the world in a vibrant musical community that is dedicated to fostering excellence, creativity, and innovation in the arts and humanities. It is the flagship music institution in the state, located about an hour's drive from Pittsburgh and about three hours by car from Baltimore or Washington, D.C. Of the almost 2200 majors in the College of Creative Arts and Media, 273 are in the School of Music. Housed in the multi-million-dollar Canady Creative Arts Center, the School of Music comprises 40 full-time and 21 part-time faculty and is the only fully accredited music unit in the state of West Virginia that offers BA, BM, MM, MA, DMA, and PhD degree programs in music. Music faculty members can benefit from an active program of professional development and travel grants sponsored by WVU and by the College of Creative Arts and Media.

The School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and the music education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the West Virginia Department of Education.

THE COLLEGE OF CREATIVE ARTS AND MEDIA is one of 13 colleges within the university, and includes the Schools of Media & Communications, Music, Theatre & Dance, and Art & Design, and offers the state's premier training in the visual and performing arts. Each of these units has a national profile of excellence and all programs are nationally accredited (ACEJMC, NAST, NASM, and NASAD). Qualifications

Outstanding Artist/Teacher who has demonstrated excellence in voice performance and a record of successful teaching in applied voice at the college level. Master's degree in voice required, doctorate or equivalent professional experience preferred. The School of Music seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to contribute to the artistic, intellectual, and cultural life of the University.
