Job Summary/Basic Function

The purpose of the Federal Work-Study Program is to give a student an opportunity to develop skills, gain on-the-job experience for future employment, and give the student flexibility to work around class schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a Bay College student in the work study program to be considered for this position. Eligibility for work-study is determined after you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Work-study requires that you are enrolled for a minimum of six credits that applies towards semester you are employed.

You must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Assist patrons with checking out and returning materials at the circulation desk.

Assist with shelving materials.

Assist with shelf reading and maintaining order in book, AV, and periodical stacks.

Become knowledgeable with the layout of the Library and the campus in general in order to direct patrons.

Assist with general "housekeeping" tasks as needed. (dusting, washing tables/carrels/equipment/screens, etc.)

Become knowledgeable with the operation of the printer, copier, and microfilm reader/printer in order to assist patrons and be able to replenish paper and inks as needed.

Become knowledgeable with the operation of the online databases and online Library web catalog in order to assist patrons.
