Our Mission
The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, the visual arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting, and interpreting works of art of outstanding quality and historical importance and is one of four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust.
The Museum operates two sites, the Getty Villa in Malibu, which exhibits its collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, and the Getty Center in Brentwood, which displays its collections of European art: Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, drawings to 1900, and photography to the present day (including non-European works).
The Museum mounts approximately 25 temporary exhibitions a year across its two sites, maintains an annual permanent gallery improvement program, and offers wide-ranging and ambitious programming for its visitors.
The Opportunity
This Assistant Digital Media Producer position in the J. Paul Getty Museum is part of a newly created team in the Getty Education Department dedicated to developing digital and virtual learning media and programs for K12 audiences.
Reporting to the Education Specialist for Digital and Virtual Learning Experiences, the Assistant Digital Media Producer will support the museum's Education Department in creating getty.edu as a destination for dynamic and relevant resources to inspire teachers from across the country to integrate the visual arts into their curriculum. They will be responsible for supporting the expansion of virtual programming and digital resources for K-12 school communities by developing new online content as part of the Getty's website for teachers and students in collaboration with education staff. The ideal candidate is highly organized and comfortable operating independently and working with teams. They also need a solid understanding of online platforms and have experience working in content development for digital projects in an iterative, fast-paced environment and have experience writing, editing, and producing compelling digital content for varied audiences.
Major Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with supervisor, team, and stakeholders to identify scope of tasks and deliverables associated with assignments
Coordinate logistics for media production projects including populating and supporting a complex digital production calendar, using project management tools to successfully manage all stages of assignmentsEnsure deadlines are met and communicate diplomatically with a broad range of staff to generate and deliver contentWrite content plans, develop storyboards, edit material, and update project management toolsEdit, write, and revise content for new and existing web pages and learning platforms, iterating this process numerous times across wireframes through production lifecycleCreate and produce original and adaptive material for various media channelsEdit audio and video using post-production techniques to deliver high-quality projectsAssist in evaluating user experience needs and recommend appropriate mediumsCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders including media production crews, writers, and talent on content productionManage, gather, and organize assets, ensuring content elements meet technical requirements, and check that rights are clearMay serve as on-screen talent as assignedPerform additional administrative tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field1-3 years of experienceExperience in digital production environment using one or more digital distribution channels such as social media, web, blogs, wikis, etc.
