The Structural Packaging Designer plays a crucial role in creating packaging solutions that enhance the presentation, protection, and marketability of our toy products. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams, including product designers, marketing, and manufacturing, to bring creative and innovative packaging concepts to life. The structural packaging designer designs packaging solutions that are not only functional and protective but also visually appealing and aligned with the brand's marketing goals.

What you will do:

Develop creative and visually appealing packaging concepts that align with the toy's branding and target audience.Create innovative packaging solutions through your expertise in design, construction, and CAD utilization.Conceptualize, illustrate, and communicate new product concepts through ideation sketching, photorealistic renderings, and prototypes both internally and externally.Create structural packaging designs that ensure the safety and protection of toys during transit and storage.Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging packaging technologies.Hands-on product packaging concept development for toys and collectibles in a wide range of categories.Infuse innovation into packaging design, such as interactive packaging elements, eco-friendly materials, or unique opening experiences.Innovate and engineer usable structures and materials to create authentic sensory interactions and moments of delight in packaging.Work closely with toy product designers to understand the product specifications and design packaging that complements the product's aesthetics.Choose appropriate materials for packaging, considering factors like cost, sustainability, and durability.Create physical prototypes and/or mockups of packaging designs to test functionality and appearance.Balance design creativity with cost-effectiveness, ensuring that packaging solutions remain within budget and manufacturing constraints.Ensure that packaging designs comply with industry regulations and safety standards, especially those related to child safety.Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure the accurate production of designed packaging.Effectively communicate and present packaging concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Develop creative concepts that support brand and business goals.Partner with product development and packaging teammates to achieve the highest level of quality for each project - understanding limitations due to timing, materials, costs, etc.Be adaptable to changing needs and priorities and pivot easily to achieve goals and deadlines.Be proactive, level-headed, highly organized, and able to work collaboratively or independently within minimal supervision.Supervisor Responsibilities

What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, or other relevant field.5 - 8 years of experience in package design experience in the CPG industry, preferably in toy or related industries.Proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for structural design.Knowledge of packaging materials and their properties.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Understanding of sustainability principles in packaging design.Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, and ability to stay up to date on industry trends.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Proficient skills in presenting, and able to engage an audience.Able to work effectively both collaboratively and independently with limited supervision.Strong attention to detail.Able to be flexible, adapt well to shifting priorities, and pivot easily when priorities change to meet goals and deadlines.Must be a self-starter who is proactive.Able to keep calm and level-headed in stressful situations.Ability to deal effectively with diverse individuals at all organizational levels.Working Conditions
