ABOUT THE JOB:

We are seeking a talented and creative Product Designer to join our team. This role focuses on the design and customization of our office and storage spaces, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of our customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product design, strong creative aptitude, and a solid understanding of engineering systems and processes. You will also play a key role in supporting creative projects that enhance our product offerings and customer experience. This is a highly technical role that will contribute to the entire design and production process of these products.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Product Customization Design: Develop innovative designs for office and storage spaces, tailored to meet specific client needs and preferences. Work with internal/external engineering resources to standardize these designs for the broader market.

Creative Support: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to provide creative solutions and visualizations for key customer projects, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Design cycle & project management – follow an iterative process of designing a product to spec, prototyping and testing samples, and making adjustments based on customer and internal feedback. Drive PDP deliverables across engineering, design, manufacturing, and safety.

Modeling/Drafting/Documentation – Create detailed 3D/2D Part and Assembly specifications. Maintain appropriate documentation of design and program activities. Create detailed Bill of Material, tooling, fixturing and measurement documentation.

Customer Interaction: Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences, translating these insights into practical and aesthetically pleasing designs.

Postproduction - assist with quality control and product standardization efforts. Confirm end of line testing procedures and develop plan to track product warranty and usable life.

Budgeting - work with program management to hit component and product level costs, as well as tooling, equipment, and other PPE.

Testing - develop product test plans in conjunction with various functions to ensure product is safe, repeatable, and meets use cases / applications.

Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to continuously improve and innovate our product offerings.

Intellectual Property – assist Prod Management and Legal team to draft and pursue and intellectual property opportunities.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in product design, preferably with a focus on customizable or modular spaces.

• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with 3D modeling tools.

Strong creative and artistic skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.

• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

• A portfolio demonstrating a range of design work, particularly in the customization of spaces.
