We are looking for a technically skilled and user-focused Technical Writer to play a key role in transforming complex technical concepts into comprehensive, user-friendly documentation. Your natural curiosity, resourcefulness, and adaptability will be your greatest assets. Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications.In this role, you will actively engage with technical pods, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and Design teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle. You will be pivotal in crafting documentation that supports engineering teams releasing updates frequently. Your proactive identification of documentation gaps and commitment to improving our documentation culture will be instrumental in creating exceptional user resources.This is a 4 month contract position based in our San Francisco office. This position offers the potential for conversion to a full-time role upon the successful completion of the contract period, based on performance and business needs.What you will be doingWrite clear and accurate documentation that enables Sigma customers to use the product to effectively and efficiently achieve their goals.Work closely with the development team (including engineers, designers, and product managers) throughout the development process to understand features and functionality at the level of a subject matter expert.Explore and validate product features through rigorous testing, sharing insights with the team.Translate complex technical details into clear, digestible documentation and release notes.Work collaboratively and closely with other writers to ensure consistent and cohesive content, style, and messaging.Improve existing documentation based on feedback from customer-facing teams and actively address knowledge gaps, prioritizing user empowerment for all audiences.Develop visually captivating, dynamic documentation that includes diagrams, screenshots, and other visual aids.Requirements3+ years of enterprise software technical writing experience requiring self-sufficiency and autonomy in day-to-day responsibilities.Hands-on approach to understanding complex technology and products.A genuine desire to learn new things daily and to translate complex topics into actionable user assistance for end users.Exceptional written and spoken communication skills, emphasizing clarity and approachability for various audiences.Outstanding time management skills, with ability to handle multiple writing assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as content management systems (preferably Markdown-based), version control systems, and other relevant writing and publishing tools.Writing samples that showcase your ability to help novice users successfully use a technically complex product to meet their goals.Highly desirable skills & experiencesProficiency with SQL.Experience with data analysis, technical concept diagramming, and API or developer documentation.What we offer youA set of extraordinarily talented peers who are dedicated to the craft of creating high-quality, customer-pleasing content.Opportunities to influence our style and standards, and participate in lively discussions about how to best present our content to users.A constant stream of new things for you to learn.A collaborative and supportive work environment.Additional job detailsThe pay range for this position is $40/hr - $55/hr per hour.About us:
